Titan Racing has set about creating an all-new Shredder mountain bike helmet that can keep up with their new Skyrim, Cerberus and Cypher mountain bike ranges. The brief was to create a lightweight MTB helmet that offers deep coverage for today’s more aggressive riders and trails, yet still offers excellent ventilation and fit to be used on longer rides.
Two models are available, the Shredder Pro MIPS and Shredder. Both models offer riders a durable in-mold constructed helmet weighing only 316 grams (Shredder Pro MIPS Med) with 23 vents to keep you cool, with deep coverage for extra protection.
The full-section retention system is easily adjustable to 3 heights and the two-finger adjustment dial is easy to use on the fly to secure a tight fit. Easy breath padding provides a cushion between your head and the helmet in all the hot spots and is easily removable to be washed. The chin strap is adjustable around the ears and the secure fit clip is padded to avoid unnecessary discomfort on long rides.
The 3-position visor provides additional protection from the harsh sun, offers a breakaway design should things go south, and is easily adjustable to find your preferred positioning. It was also designed to allow goggles to be stowed underneath the peak on the helmet when not in use, with goggle strap guides around the side and the back to keep it in place. In addition, a universal sunglasses dock lets you safely dock your sunglasses under the visor when not in use to protect them from scratches and unwanted impacts.
MIPS
Titan Racing worked with MIPS to incorporate the MIPS system into the new shredder helmet design from the start, to ensure maximum protection to riders. The Mips® safety system features a low-friction layer inside a bike helmet that allows a multi-directional movement of 10-15mm on certain angled impacts, intended to help reduce rotational force to the head.
It took MIPS 15 years to develop its complete test environment and methods to replicate real-life accident situations and is considered the gold standard when it comes to helmet safety.
During the design phase, the new Shredder was extensively tested by MIPS and proudly wears the MIPS logo in approval.
