SRAM announces steel 1x chainrings for added durability

By Press Office · 14 comments

The SRAM X-SYNC STEEL 1x chainrings are the perfect replacement ring for the cost conscious with added durability of steel. The same SRAM X-SYNC technology at a price well below competitors’ imitation “narrow wide” rings. Best performing chainrings at the best price.

Mmmm, I am just going to say it. Not the best idea.

Even though I am a fan of steel, it's elasticity doesn't make this a great choice even though the intentions are good.

Have ovalized 2 steel rings in the past thinking I am clever because steel is mos strong. Alu is still top choice here.

Steel just lasts longer with smaller rings. Way to go sram

If they now produce a cheaper 11-40/42 10-speed cassette, it will be a big issue for Wolf Tooth and co.

But steel on the front is fine. Will last for ages.

Who would have thought Sam would release a current tech product that's both cheap and long lasting, awesome. Now some competitor just needs to release the steel 104bcd rings.

These would probably be made out of Cro-Mo?

Ok well you can already get stainless steel Wolf tooth chain rings, albeit for the unconscionable sum of $99:
