By Matt · 299 comments

Are you up for a challenge? Isuzu Trucks are giving away four team entries for the Isuzu Trucks PE Plett MTB Race, taking place 3 – 6 September 2015.

The Isuzu Trucks Endurance Challenge kicked off today (20 April 2015) and over the next four weeks you’ll be faced with a series of Strava-based challenges. If you complete them all you’ll go into the draw to win one of the four team entries plus R 5000 towards your travel.

Here’s how it works:

1) Sign up for the Challenge using your Strava account

2) All your rides logged on Strava between 20 April 2015 and 17 May 2015 will be imported, analysed and badges awarded when you reach the targets set out for each.

Are you up for the Challenge?

Here is a look at what lies ahead:

These badges apply to the full competition duration and any qualifying rides logged over that period count towards them.

Questions?

1. Will my indoor trainer / stationary bike sessions or manually logged rides count?

No, only rides tracked by a GPS device will be considered.

2. What if I sign up late?

You can sign up at any point in the competition. Any existing rides on Strava which fall within the competition period will be imported regardless of when you sign up.

I dig Strava mostly for the challenges. I'd have done these even if there wasn't the possibility of winning something...

Very good idea from the organisers.

Dammit, I've just finished an everest attempt and now you do this to me.

Yay. I love bike!

Have your earned your "First Ride" Badge yet?

So far 44% of entrants have ridden 25km or more and earned their first real badge after sign up.

In Week 2 the the ante is upped considerably with 3000m climbing and 200km to do between Monday and Sunday.... it's a good thing there are so many public holidays!

get them to put more stats on their website, gives us more of an idea as to how many people are still in the running.

I'll chat to them and see what we can do on the site.

For the moment I'll post stats updates here.

Sheesh, there are some machines clocking up the badges already, nearly 6000m ascent in 4 days!

Glad it's a random draw and not first to collect all the badges!

Keep up the hard work!

Doesn't seem to make a difference when you do it during the 4 weeks according to the T's&C's:

"All badges will be made available upfront and will need to be completed within the four week period."

I'm more concerned about the identity crisis I am going through at the moment because of them, I got the mail with the update yesterday and it started , "Hi Matt" - I had to check my ID because until that mail I was sure I wasn't named Matt, now I have contacted Home Affairs because that email and my ID don't say the same thing ;)

Also got that mail. Also knocked out a few badges over the weekend, but still shows only the 1st two. And I re-sync'd via the site.

Will the REAL MATT please stand up and clarify what's cutting...?

Hi guys,

The "Hi Matt" was an embarrassing error on my part. We're administering the competition on behalf of the sponsors and an error on the email templates meant all went out addressed to me.

My apologies! It has been corrected for future emails.

The email received reflects your badges as at 2pm yesterday afternoon. Any rides uploaded subsequently would not have reflected so it is likely you have earned additional badges since the email.

You can view what activities have been imported from Strava via this link: http://isuzutruckschallenge.co.za/activity

If any are missing please let me know and we'll look into it.

Regards,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Just looking for some clarification on the badge requirements - does the "ride 12 hrs in 7 days"/"climb 3 000m in 7 days" badges run over any consecutive seven days, or from Monday to Sunday?

It's the 7 days from Monday - Sunday in any of the 4 competition weeks:

Week 1: 20 - 26 April

Week 2: 27 April - 3 May

Week 3: 4 - 10 May

Week 4: 11 - 17 May

Just for clarity can the 4hours therefore also be done in any week.

Away with the family , not sure if i can get in a 4 hour ride but will do it if I have to get it in this week.

Yes, any of the badges which are based on a single ride can be completed at any time during the competition.

Will it be possible to show the number of people taking part?

Will it be possible to show the number of people taking part?

And maybe list the amount of badges earned thus far or contestants as per list above?
