Anti-Doping Rule Violation: Tyronne White

Press release from Cycling South Africa.

By Press Office · 278 comments

Cycling South Africa reports that Tyronne White has been found guilty of an anti-doping rule violation after an in-competition test conducted on 30 April 2016 confirmed the presence of the Glucocorticoid, Dexamethasone.

The SAIDS Independent Doping Hearing Panel imposed a period of ineligibility of 18 months, commencing on 14 December 2016. Mr. White is therefore suspended and prohibited from competing and administering in the sport of Cycling as well as in any other sport in South Africa and Internationally from 14 December 2016 until 13 June 2018. This decision may be appealed by Mr. White, the UCI, WADA and SAIDS.

Cycling South Africa respects the independence of the SAIDS process and will respect the outcome. Cycling SA further reiterates its zero-tolerance approach to doping in sport and will continue working with SAIDS in the promotion of a drug-free sport via its awareness and extensive testing programmes.

Made me smile - classification of dopers. I thought it was simple, you're sick you can't race.

Yup, but like most things circumstances do play a part. Getting a podium after needing hectic treatment is dodgy as hell. Guess my point is the same as yours - get treatment, don't race. And these guys do race often - if it was that bad you're jeopardising the next races. Pull out.

I feel sorry for SA athletes, considering that every positive test ever has been a result of a flawed system.

I wouldn't stress about it if I were him.

After he served his suspension he'l be back,, stronger and faster, with a good team and a big sponsor earning lots of moola.

- Or that's what what he can expect if history repeats itself-

He might even land a job as presenter on my favorite weekly TV show

Perhaps races should pay to have pharmacists do this....??

I recommend Darryl Impey's pharmacist

Sani this year, I ended up at the medics at ten pm on night one as my heart rate wouldn't drop below 140. Medic took my details and said I would not be allowed to start then next day unless I saw him first to get checked and signed off. Maybe he was exaggerating but he seemed to have the authority to remove me from the race.

I recommend Darryl Impey's pharmacist

No ways, he was grossly negligent, he almost ended a World Tour riders career with a sequence of comedic errors. What you want is the guy who came up with the story....

What ever happened to Impeys Pharmacist?

Imagine if the fine powder that contaminated the gelatine capsules was something that Impey was allergic too, he could have killed him!

Hmmm... Why is it that fine, white powder follows some athletes about? I remember the French tennis player (Gasquet) who got off by saying he kissed a girl at a party. If only he'd kissed his pharmacist, it would have been more believable.

Man I am so glad I ride for ENJOYMENT and the the pure love of just being on my bike. Must be terrible to be an amateur/weekend warrior and concerning yourself with which pro DOPED by taking an asthma inhaler/nose spray or some weird medicine that turns you into a super hero.

What happened to smoking dope ? Now that's real doping. I don't even know who most of these dopers are and I don't care. I ride for enjoyment not for money or prestige. So to all the dopers out there, the smoking , sniffing and inhaling ones, stop it now so we can all have a different topic to comment on. To the rest of you non-pro's, Happy Riding Man !

And surely, if true, this Dr must be barred from ever practising at any sport event again? Rule nr 1, know what is on the Wada list?

Is this your final answer? You don't want to phone a friend? Sure?

I love how the FB post is all about the Dr...

How many other riders at Joberg2c were popped for steriods given by the Dr?

Honestly for us weekend warrior types it makes no difference to OUR lives directly.

However, I sponsor a 18 year old who has real talent. The kid has amazing numbers, a will to win that is scary, a personality that any brand would want as an ambassador, and he can pedal a bike holy moly. So each time somebody does something that brings the sport into disrepute it directly affects him and his potential career. I can also see in his eyes how he loses faith in this sport that he loves. So we need to do something.

Unfortunately, it's not a easy problem to deal with. We have dopers, a very tainted sport and a flawed system that all contribute to a difficult situation for these kids that want to make a career out of cycling.

Couple this with a overly competitive SUB/VETS racing scene that isn't policed and it just gets worse.

I think we have reached a cross roads, where people are just gatvol and IF there are cases of unfortunate mistakes, our natural cynical nature blinds us to circumstance and the REAL fringe cases.
