How it works

The USN Epic Challenge is based on four individual challenges over an eight week period (12 October – 6 December 2016). Each challenge spans a two week period and will require you to achieve targets based on your Strava cycling activities.

Successfully complete all four challenges and you will be eligible to win one of the two Absa Cape Epic entries available.

Just for participating you’ll also stand a chance of winning one of five USN online shopping vouchers valued at R1500 each.

How do I enter?

  1. Sign up on http://usnepicchallenge.co.za/ using your Strava account;
  2. Start riding! Complete all four challenges and you could win one of two 2017 Absa Cape Epic team entries.

Looking at strava and some of the 100km + rides, I see the leaderboard is doubling the distance, the riders strava account shows exactly half the data reflected on the leaderboard.

Could you PM me an example?

The only reason I could think is that the ride itself is duplicated on Strava.

Q: Who won this years entry?

Good question. No response, unsurprisingly.

I'm still trying to figure out a route to get 2500m of elevation in JHB.

Guess it's just going to be hill repeats for days...

Isn't the challenge to do it on one ride.. 2500m with a min of 70km?

At least you have hills we have 1 hill that is 1km long and gains 100m..good thing I am not doing this challenge.. I would die if I had to repeat that hill 25 times and then still have to go find another 20km to complete that challenge.[emoji85]

Perhaps there should be a "Hub Ride" where all of us aiming to get the climbing in can find a suitable hill and morally support one another to get it done

My partner and I have been discussing how the heck we are going to complete that challenge. For days.

Question: Epic is a team event ...

If you win, do you choose a team mate from friends ?

or is it a team mate from the competition ?
