Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka all set for Liege-Bastogne-Liege

The early season classics are fast coming to an end with the 102nd edition of Liege-Bastogne-Liege all set to take place on Sunday 24 April in Belgium. As one of the 5 monuments of world cycling, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka are looking to impress come Sunday.

Liege-Bastogne-Liege is the oldest of all the classics and so naturally a tremendous amount of prestige is placed upon “La Doyenne”. With a total distance of 253km, and the route littered with climbs particularly in the final 100km, riders will truly be put to the test. You can expect the action to really liven up from the Côte de La Redoute (km 216, 2km long at 8.9%) and then there are still 3 more notable climbs (km 232 – Côte de La Roche-aux-Faucons, km 246 – Côte de Saint-Nicolas, km 250 – Côte de la Rue Nanito) to come before reaching the finish in Ans.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will have an impressive climbing team lining up on Sunday with the in-form Steve Cummings looking to ride well on a course which could suit the Brit. Merhawi Kudus also starts after returning from altitude in Eritrea and the rest of the team will be completed by Daniel Teklehaimanot, Omar Fraile, Igor Anton, Jacques Janse van Rensburg, Serge Pauwels & Kanstantsin Siutsou.

I am really confident for Liege-Bastogne-Liege because the bad weather in Europe is mostly over now. They say it might snow but I am hopeful the weather stays in the same way like the last weeks. The course is really good for me because the climbs are a bit longer and not so steep so I hope I have perfect legs on race day. Steve is also going really well so it could be a good race for him but we have a lot of strong guys in the team actually. So we will have a good team and we will all give our best for a good result.
