Press Release

The most precise Force AXS is here. Upgraded with technologies developed for WorldTour pros, and a striking aesthetic all its own. Choose from integrated power solutions for road and gravel. Go further with intelligent gear ranges. Personalize it with the power of AXS.

Enjoy redesigned shifter paddles, a sleeker hood shape, and the consistent feel of hydraulic stopping power. More than an update, it’s a departure from everything you thought you knew about the equation of Force.

Force AXS HRD Shift-Brake System ED-FRC-D2

Small changes can make a big difference. We optimized the Force AXS hood shape to provide increased finger wrap for more hand sizes, so you can stay secure sprinting for town lines, committing to the rut in a muddy CX race, or chattering down a long gravel descent. What hasn’t changed is the power and modulation of our acclaimed hydraulic disc brakes. Intuitive shift logic and easy-to-find shift paddles mean these controls, dare we say it, really sparkle.

  • AXS enabled for easy setup, personalization, and reliability eTap shift logic for intuitive shifting
  • Wireless Blip compatible
  • Optimized hood shape fits a wider range of hand sizes
  • Carbon brake lever for light weight
  • Textured shift paddles and hoods for control and comfort
  • Bleeding Edge technology for easy and clean bleeds
  • Reach Adjust to personalize fit for more hand sizes

FORCE AXS REAR DERAILLEUR RD-FRC-E-D2

Shifts are fast and precise, and the Orbit fluid damper keeps the chain in control, whether the obstacle you’re hitting is a pothole or a root. And the graphics pop just the right amount, to remind you that you have the coolest fully wireless drivetrain out there.

  • Orbit chain management technology keeps the drivetrain quiet and secure
  • AXS enabled for easy setup, personalization, and reliability

Wow. Amazing that after so many years, The Mullet is making a huge comeback! That’s called the ASX “air brake” used for technical descents, right? 👀

it's the same price as the old one, which nowadays is pretty rare.

Otherwise apparently same (shitty for the front) shifting performance. Only upside in my opinion is hoods design. I haven't ridden my Rival ones yet but from what I've seen they are a lot closer to what shimano offers (which is far better).

But the looks... man this looks cheap... The current Rival crank actually looks better IMO

Further innovation from SRAM: with the power meter integrated into the chainring is this a new technology, the disposable power meter??

Can one at least replace the battery?  Or is the power meter done, once the battery reached its max  recharging cycles, or chain rings are worn - which ever happens first?

The chainring will die long before the battery

Hopefully someone on YouTube will come forward with a DIY solution to separate the power meter spider from the worn chainrings? :whistling:

Nope, 100% false. These take 2032 batteries and those chainrings are bulletproof (as long as you stay on top or your chain wear)

yep. i've had no issue with Sram red chainrings - they last forever.

i was at first worried about it, but now its such a non issue

Wasn't aware they were not li-ion. I think my point stands though, when you replace you chainring, you now have to replace a power meter unnecessarily

I agree, but i’ve done a ton of miles on the old force, that already had tons of miles when I bought it. But my old force had interchangeable chainrings though

As someone (probably) about to pull the trigger on an AXS mullet setup, why on earth would I pay extra for Force shifters over Rival? Seems like they just took Rival form factor and changed Force to match?

Correct. These chainrings are orettt hard as far as aluminium chainrings go. Bikenetwork posted a video review and it appears the rings are stiff and based on Red longevity feedback, will likely outlast most users expected life from the groupset.

im using a SRAM 12 speed chain on my 11 speed DA and it hasn’t work nor has the rings. With the hardnes of the current sram. Road 12 a chains I doubt chainring life span is going to be of any concern unless you want to keep the groupset for 10yrs
