According to Michael Meyer, Director FNB W2W, exciting times lie ahead for the FNB W2W MTB Events. “We are very excited to welcome Specialized Bicycles as our Official Bicycle Partner. The popularity of the FNB W2W has grown strongly since its inception in 2009. In 2013 we introduced a third event, the FNB W2W MTB Ride, giving more riders the opportunity to share in the experience of the FNB W2W. Together with the support of Specialized Bicycles, we look forward to continue growing these much loved MTB events, ultimately uplifting the sport of mountain biking in South Africa,” says Meyer.

“It is an honour and a privilege for Specialized to team up with the FNB W2W MTB Events,” says Bianca Grobbelaar, Marketing Manager Specialized Bicycles Africa. “FNB W2W gives back to the community through the building of trails and the introduction of more people to the sport of mountain biking. The beauty of the FNB W2W is that it attracts all sorts of riders, from the racing snakes to the weekend warriors. The events feature a great family element and are therefore of the best supported events in the country. The routes are also of the most scenic, attracting riders from all over the country. Our aim is to introduce people to healthier lifestyles by getting them onto bicycles. The FNB W2W will also present us with the perfect opportunity to expose riders to our top end models, presenting them with the opportunity to Test The Best. We look forward to being part of the FNB W2W MTB Adventure, Ride and Race”.

FNB W2W MTB Adventure, Ride and Race:

Starting in the Winelands of Somerset West, riders will cross through (and over) 13 wineries, 26 private farms, six mountains, historic roads and mountain passes, nature conservation areas (including the Kogelberg Biosphere) before finishing within sight of the famous whales of Hermanus!

I think it means the organizers get a whole lot of money for the Specialized name being used.

Would be great if Specialized made one of their bicycles available to each entrant, on loan, for the event.

At the Cape Outback this year Specialized made the bikes available to the riders if they wanted to do a stage with it.
