Review: Lindarets ReMount

The Lindarets ReMount is a novel component that allows one to use an “over the bar mounted” dropper post lever (a Giant dropper post lever in my instance) to be mounted in a more ergonomic position. Very similar to that of a gear shifter.

This may seem trivial, but the action on the standard Giant lever, where you bring your thumb over and down in order to activate the dropper post, is fine if you are riding on tame trails. However, once you hit rougher and steeper sections, where you would ideally like to keep a firm grasp on your handle bars/ grips, the action of lifting the thumb over the bars to use the standard lever has always felt very uncomfortable for me. I really dislike this action, especially on rougher terrain.

With the Lindarets ReMount you are able to find a far more ergonomic position for the “over the bar” type lever where it functions in a similar manner to a gear shift lever.

Besides the improved ergonomics of having the lever now below the bars, you can also pivot the Lindarets ReMount fore and aft on the bars, allowing you to get the ideal reach for your hands. You can further fine tune the setup and feel by pivoting the dropper post lever around the Lindarets ReMount’s axis.

Another benefit derived from the Lindarets ReMount, when used with the Giant Dropper post, is that the long flexible hose extending from the lever which would usually rise up and stick over my brake lever is now running cleaning below the brake lever and bars. Neatly out of the way.

I can now also comfortably rest the palms of my hands over the brake levers when riding on long open sections or climbs, without the dropper lever digging into my palm. A small thing when written down in words, but a huge factor when out on the bike.

In essence the ReMount really is a very simple, yet effective component.

So what is it made of, copy and paste from the website:

The ReMount is proudly made in the USA of sturdy, chemical-resistant Delrin, which -compared to CNC-machined aluminium- reduces the likelihood of handlebar damage in the event of a crash. A stainless steel screw and precision brass insert will work smoothly and look good for years to come

What does this mean? Simply undo the bolt, pull open the mount and clip it over your bars, insert and tighten the bolt. Now just fine tune your setup and you’re done. Fitting could not be more simple and the feel when tightening the bolts is solid. This is not a cheap plastic toy, it is a solid component.

While you are at it, take a look at the “about us” section on their website. I really do appreciate their approach to keeping their environmental footprint as small as possible from the design phase, to when and how the product is delivered to your door.

Conclusion

This tiny black plastic component, that looks like the offspring of a bar end, has honestly been a great upgrade for my bike. I use the dropper post more often now, and do so without any thought given to hand placement. The action has just become natural, and this is what was missing for me when the lever was previously mounted “over the bars”.

What was delivery time more or less Hairy?

Dispatch was the same day from Lindarets, just when it came to our local postal services did it take a little time.

It was two weeks to delivery.

Just occurred to me, some barends could be used like this, perhaps just cut down a little shorter, mmm am I on to something here for the DIY guys?

Tried yesterday Skylark, most barends have an angle that they stand at.

Tried a momsen bar end.

That is a little money spinner there for anyone with a 3d printer and some time.
