There's a nice photo of me there showing some bad technique. It was really a good day out despite going OTB twice in stage 5 because of my front wheel getting bogged down in the powder.

Was a great day out.The flat bit in SS2 was a killer, no wonder Gert Heyns opened up an almost 10sec gap on the rest of the field there!

Awesome pics as always!

Is it possible to #enduro with a hardtail? Like a 100mm-front one...? I want have a go at this - and the enjoyment factor always seem to be way up there (compared to the the typical post-race-singletrack-congestion-complaints of your average MTB race). I just don't want to write off another wheel...

Definitely this one. I did see at least one hardtail there. Some of the enduros are quite technical, but generally they are doable on any bike. It all depends on your skill level..

If you can handle tech terrain drops and jumps on your hardtail then you will be able to some of the enduro's at least

I would pay to watch this Woodcutter segment go down...

I honestly don't know how that is possible, but since I was not at the race - I will have to assume it was epic balls to the walls flying!

Nah, I reckon it's a Strava glitch. Dale's quick, but I don't think it's humanly possible to get to 73km/h on that section!

I was surprised myself - did nothing untoward!  What I can say is that this has certainly proved that you can't trust Strava!!

phew! I was seriously doubting my courage - I'm pretty quick on that section, pushing my tyres' grip and quite frankly my bike control skills and I fall solid in the 45s bracket and I was looking at that time and going: WoW!

Hells yeah. 100mm is a bit short but honestly enduro terrain becomes more technical the faster you ride so its only a question of watching your speed and you should be fine. Sometimes its worth staying off the A-lines.

Just an observation looking at the pics. These guys really need to consider importing some proper rocks from Hakahana.
