Ever heard of economies of scale?  Or do they ship each one across alone, incurring shipping costs per item equal to an individual trip?

I guess that's why SRAM won't put through an order for just your one random item but rather bundle it with a large order when that get's placed.

Just to put it in perspective, an Air 9 Carbon 1 star deore is $2500 at the current exchange rate of R13.76/$ that equates to R34400 on the SA site it's R34399.  So in that regard quite similar.  And that doesn't take it in to account that if you did a normal exchange rate, it would be an additional 2% if you use a credit card plus shipping then VAT once landed here.

Btw, just checked the Stumpy Comp Carbon 29 World Cup and retails for $2800, which is what the Air 9 Carbon 2 star build is and both have similar specs.

If asking a wholesaler about their model where the model is portrayed as being more consumer friendly compared to other options, but doesn't appear to actually be is trolling, then cool, I'll be that guy.

I'm not oblivious to the realities that the ZAR is poked, NINER is a more niche brand and just plain more expensive.

What I don't understand is how going direct to Niner makes more (monetary) sense than going to a LBS and buying a different brand for a similar price with better / similar specs.  The whole point of going direct is to cut out the costs added by retailers.

So comparing the Niners to Spez bikes actually only proves that Spez is more economic, since their advertised prices are what you pay in a shop.

Wouldn't your argument be the same as why go to Lamborghini and get a niche car vs going to BMW and buying a vehicle off their floor?

I can't afford either, but it doesn't stop me from drooling over them.

Well, it's settled then, you compare a Spez to a Niner, something a true Ninerd would never do.

And let's not kid ourselves, we love the fact that not every Tom, Nico and Harry has a Niner, it just adds to the cool-factor of the brand...

Plus 15% if it is a full build you're bringing in...

Sent an inquiry on your website, but I guess you've been inundated with requests.  Looking for a Large WFO9 (frame only).  Considering an upgrade from my current 2011/12 WFO.  What would the price on that be?

Also if people want to have a go at brands for pricing look no further than Pyga, #proudlysouthafrican at American market prices... I am sure there was a thread about it somewhere...

Anyway...

It was in response to someone comparing the prices to Spez, so really.  But it's ok Rouxtjie, I get it. You don't like Specialized. How original.

Johann ek sien jy is van Prince Albert.  Was vroeër die jaar daar en het die trail op daai kopie gery.  Is daar meer riding om te doen in die omtes (wat nie grondpad is nie).  Was nogal lekker stukkie trail daai.

Nico, there's plenty of riding around here, but not much that a Specialized could handle.... ;)
