Nico was born in Germany, but resides in Cape Town and represents South Africa in all international competitions. Regarded as one of the best technical riders in the South Africa, Nico thrives off new challenges and we look forward to his growth in 2016. As brand ambassador, Nico will continue to host the hotly demanded DORMA SA MTB Clinics across South Africa, teaching the skills of the sport to architects, quantity surveyors, developers and contractors wishing to improve their MTB riding technique. Nico’s infectious energy inspires all those who meet him and he has accelerated client and staff interest in the sport ensuring MTB remains the corporate sport of choice.

Nico is an athlete of integrity and never compromises on his holistic healthy lifestyle. This consist of daily mountain bike rides, yoga and meditation practice with plenty of stand-up paddle boarding (SUP). Nico is 100% vegan, 90% raw and Superfoods. For training and races, Nico makes and uses natural nutrition only, no synthetic or artificially processed supplements, or remedies. In the 2015 ABSA Cape Epic, Nico broke his hand during stage five and still managed to finish 2nd overall in his category. His motivation with good race results and his holistic healthy lifestyle is to create awareness that “we, as humans, are only scratching the surface of what is physically and mentally possible”, says Nico. In addition, he speaks seven languages, is a full time holistic massage, bodywork and energy healing therapist, helping many athletes.

DORMA South Africa has been running for 32 years and provides premium architectural hardware which includes door handles, hinges, locks, cylinders as well as hydraulic door closers, glass fittings, automatic door operators and a fully-trained, nation-wide service team. DORMA South Africa Regional Director, Shaun Frayne, started mountain biking a few years ago and along the trail met Nico Pfitzenmaier. “Nico’s rounded approach and dedication to MTB is how I like to approach business and he is an asset to the DORMA brand”, adding that “cycling takes the same dedication as running a successful business”. We look forward to seeing the partnership ascend, leaving competitors in the dust.

It is my aim through that to promote a clean and fair sport specifically be a positive role model to the younger generation.

Candice on a Dale and Nico on a PYGA.

Each with their respective bike brands on their jerseys.

Interesting.

Good for Nico but just a question: why would they opt to sponsor a vet and not go for younger talent or a local pro that gets some results?

I think it is because the Vets are the target market of Dorma products. And because the vets cat are bigger spenders. And because Nico adds value for Dorma with his skills clinics with Dorma clients.
