Nelspruit Ready for SA Road Cycling Championships

Mpumalanga will host the 2013 Clover SA National Junior, U23 and Elite Road and Time Trial Championships once again at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit from Thursday 28 February to Sunday 3 March.

This year, the organisers are excited to welcome Clover as the title sponsor of the championship status event, which sees the junior men and women, elite men and women and under-23 men vie for national champion status.

Participants will take part in an individual time trial, team time trial and road race events that traverse Nelspruit and surrounds in the vicinity of the Mbombela Stadium.

The event kicks off with the individual time trial on Thursday 28 February, with the team time trial, taking place on Friday 1 March. The team time trial was reintroduced to the SA National Road Cycling Champs last year, much to the delight of the participating teams.

The women will take to the streets of Nelspruit on Saturday 2 March for the road race, whilst the men will race on Sunday 3 March.

Thursday 28 February: Individual Time Trial

  • Junior Women

Friday 1 March: Team Time Trial

  • Team Time Trial starts at Steam Engine on R537

Saturday 2 March: Road Races – Women

  • Elite Women – Start Mbombela Stadium – 2 laps (112km)
  • Junior Women – Start Mbombela Stadium – 1 lap (60km)

Sunday 3 March: Road Races – Men

  • U23 and Elite Men – Start Mbombela Stadium – 3 laps (160km)
  • Junior Men – Start Mbombela Stadium – 2 laps (112km)

Entries for the 2013 Clover SA National Junior, U23 and Elite Road and Time Trial Championships are open, and the online pre-entries close on Sunday 24 February 2013. Click here to enter now.
