On Sunday 2nd of August MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung will take part in the UCI 1.HC Prudential Ride London Classic for the 3rd time.
The single day British race which was originally created as a test event before the 2012 London Olympics has grown in popularity over the years and is attracting a higher calibre field year-on-year. MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung were part of the last two editions of the race but on both occasions our African team would finish just outside of the top 10.
In years past there has been a group sprint of sorts that has decided the race winner. This year the organisers have added another climb in the Surrey Hills region and also shortened the distance from the final climb, Box Hill, to the finish near Buckingham Palace. The alterations should make for an exciting race once again.
MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung will send a strong team, littered with fast men to do the job on Sunday. Theo Bos makes a welcome return to action after crashing out of the Amgen Tour of California in May. Gerald Ciolek, Andreas Stauff, Kristian Sbaragli, Tyler Farrar and Nic Dougall will all also start in London on Sunday.
