Mountain Bike Masters World Champs Entries Open Monday

By Matt · 0 comments

The moment that masters’ mountain bikers have been waiting for is almost here – to book your place and participate in a mountain bike cross-country (XCO) and downhill (DHI) World Championship event in South Africa.

The 2013 UCI MTB Masters World Championships, which takes place from 21 to 25 August at Cascades Mountain Bike Park in Pietermaritzburg, will crown the world champions across all age and gender categories from 30 years of age and above. This event is the once-off opportunity for non-elite competitive mountain bikers to stand a chance to earn the rainbow stripe jersey whilst competing on home soil.

South Africa will be hosting the UCI MTB Masters World Championships for the first time this year and it comes as a result of a combination of years of work by the event organisers and Cycling SA.

The UCI MTB Masters World Championships is the ultimate mountain bike event in the world for the amateur rider, and will be held the week before the big guns of world mountain biking display their talents at the Cascades venue. Popularity of the Masters event extends to the team mechanics and support crews of the elite teams that will be racing in the elite world champs.

Entries for the 2013 UCI MTB Masters World Championships open on Monday 18 March. Click here to enter.
