Kevin Evans accepts doping charge

By Press Office · 1614 comments

Cycling South Africa reports that the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) has charged mountain bike cyclist, Kevin Evans with doping after identifying serious irregularities in his Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) – a profile of the athlete’s blood parameters.

Mr. Evans accepted the charge of doping and did not contest the findings. The ABP is a longitudinal analysis and the suspicious readings were identified over a period of time, therefore the athlete’s results extending back to 14 March 2014 will be disqualified, with all of the resulting consequences, including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes.

He will be banned from sport for four years as of 4 March 2015 until 3 March 2019. The athlete has however indicated that he has retired from professional cycling.

Cycling South Africa respects the independence of the SAIDS process. Cycling South Africa further reiterates its zero-tolerance approach to doping in sport and will continue working with SAIDS in the promotion of a drug-free sport via its awareness and extensive testing programmes.

So I wonder who the Caveman is referencing.

"1 more to go"

If you follow some of the coaches and other MTB pro's there was talk about a bust in December but none of them would name the pro on twitter.

They all seem to know...

“Having retired last year officially in May, I’m naturally disappointed that this has to come out subsequently, but I’m happy to take my sanction and move on. I have no desire or will to return to professional cycling, merely to focus on my business and giving back to the sport that has given me so much”.

Wait.... what is he going to give back

Blood?

Needles?

Doping tips?

Dear Dopers: I don't care about your excuses, I don't care about 'the sorrys'. I care about the money you stole, the careers that were denied and derailed, the riders who questioned them selves, the truth that was warped and the large part of belief in a great sport that you have a eroded

If you think 'I'm sorry' fixes any part of that then you are deluded... you are a self involved thief. If you are sorry then shop your dealer, spill the beans and work tirelessly every day god gives to pull the sport out of that hole that you single handily push it a little deeper into.

You are a confirmed cheat and have betrayed all those who supported you why should you shrug and walk away.

Devil's advocate: If Evans presents affidavits from the surgeons confirming what he says they said, and he has a letter confirming his application for a TUE, what then?

******* thats what, 2102/13 has no effect on his 2014 sanction.

Dont you think if you were him and this was brought before you, you would present that information? SAIDS never woke up this morning and went "lets send a release out"

Cheers Kevin, see you never, not even when I need a tube and Im in knysna.

Kevin is scrambling to cover himself and his golf mate Kevin Mcallum is off writing columns on iol to try help him out.

Journalistic integrity?

@tumbleweed i know he's your brother but he should have said to his mate : "Sorry i'll rather stay out of this".

Yours worked. He doesn't say why he's not contesting though... Edit: Bottom bit of the story didn't load. Yeah, sorta confirmed what I was thinking. He stands to gain nothing from contesting it.

Normally if you guilty

Normally if you know its over

Normally if you strike a deal with authroities

These are a few reasons why you dont contest.

If I was totally innocent I would contest this, only guilty athletes when they (read 3 above) dont contest.

so then why get his golf mate to quickly write a column on iol.

He knows he has no legal grounds to contest it. He's just trying to BS the public

But isn't that what he is saying? I was denied a TUE and continued racing, it's come out now, and I have taken my sanction? Or do you want him to admit to something else?
