The very first race of this season’s Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series took place in Treuchtlingen (Bavaria, Germany). More than 400 riders from 13 countries sought competition. Initially, almost 600 riders had registered, partly ending up on the waiting list.
Once more, RC Germania Weißenburg did a great job in organizing the race that lasted over 28 kilometers with 840 meters difference in altitude. The times tracked for the 6 special stages counted for the final results. On Saturday 27 April the riders had the chance to do some practice riding on the course.

Raceday saw chilly but dry conditions and the riders started according to the overall standings of last year’s season.
Nicolas Lau (FRA – Cube Action Team) and Anneke Beerten (NED – Specialized Racing Team) both showed good form to win with a comfortable margin in the 1st race of the series.
Former professional Downhill Rider Bas de Bever, currently trainer of the Dutch BMX/MTB team, was a special contender who did not want to race in the first place. He eventually achieved two record times in the Masters category, but in the end had to quit the race due to technical issues with his bike.
