From www.letour.fr:

Impey the overall leader: the new top five of the 100th Tour…

History has been made: Daryl Impey moves from second overall to first. He finished the stage in 13th place while his team-mate and former race leader Simon Gerrans was 48th. This means that the South African has taken the yellow jersey and he is the first from his country to lead the Tour de France.

The new top five is:

1. Daryl Impey (RSA) OGE

2. Edvald Boasson Hagen (NOR) SKY – at 3″

3. Simon Gerrans (AUS) OGE – at 5″

4. Michael Albasini (SUI) OGE – at 5″

5. Michal Kwiatkowski (POL) OPQ – at 6″

Hey gents/ladies,

How do we celebrate? Apart from the usual beer etc etc. Bunch rides in yellow, national holiday. What do you suggest?

Sarge

The rest of the Tour as official RRRSSSA holiday !

Good to hear it last night and this morning make the news on the radio stations - not the sports news but mainstream news.

I remember a Peugeot range of bikes that was named after him. Not sure if he was SA born. He was a climber of note and was a Polka Dot rider on a occasion. He was with Festina until the dopy scandal.

True that. He was born in Morocco and led the Tour in 2 different editions. Commentators got it wrong.

VIrenque, was the child of French nationals in Morocco, first generation, They moved back to France when he was nine. He was as much an African as what a person who sleeps in a garage is a car.

IMHO

We all wear yellow?

Or I could put on my borat suit and run next to the peleton waving my SA flag sometime in the next few weeks?

On second thoughts, I think gummibear is closer to the TDF than I am.....

Today I realised I should probably get another job. One of my colleagues asked is it was me in the yellow jersey....

Sure I said - right after this meeting I'm off to Paris to jump on my bike and smash the next stage.

Can people really be that dumb?

Oh and Impeyyoubiscuit!!!!

It's probably been said on this thread already but after JCMeyer tweeted:

Impi! wo 'nans' impi iyeza

Obani bengathinta amabhubesi?

It's been on my mind all day!
