Celebrate the start of March 2025 with a 100-mile journey into the breathtaking Sneeuberg mountain range, where you can expect spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, spritely wildlife, unique indigenous plantlife, nostalgic Karoo windpump scenes, 5-star refreshing waterpoint stops, and a halfway stop on the unique farm of Alphen where you will enjoy a light lunch before proceeding with your exciting journey. The Ride the Karoo 100miler and 50miler routes start and end at Dwarsvlei farm.

100miler participants will start the day with a cup or two of freshly brewed condensed milk coffee and a homemade rusk, followed by a delicious breakfast to fuel for your day out in the Karoo. With a ring of the Bell, participants will start their day of Karoo riding towards Rusoord farm which hosts the first waterpoint for the day.
Next up is Twiskraal farm, where joyful locals welcome everyone to the second waterpoint before gradually increasing in elevation. Numerous wildlife like Eland, Gemsbuck, Waterbuck and Springbuck can be spotted along the way. Riders enter Lucernvale through a tunnel of poplar trees to find a self-help station located at the old farmhouse where a restroom is available and ice cold water to fill up water bottles.
Heading out Lucernvale, riders can expect the biggest challenge of the day with a steep climb followed by a downhill to the beautiful farmhouse at Alphen, built in 1854. Alphen will present the 4th water point of the day along with a light lunch. After refuelling riders will head to the Richmond – Middleburg road consisting of gravel district road followed by a gradual downhill to Waterpoint 5 at 111km surrounded by tall trees and refreshments.
Participants will then head back to the familiar Rusoord, which will be the final waterpoint of the day before the last stretch to Dwarsvlei Farm for a memorable day out! Remember to take in the views.

The 50 miler group (82,7km) will head out along the same route as the 100 miler group to the first water point at Rusoord. Riders will proceed to Twiskraal farmhouse, heading into a game camp filled with wildlife, passing a big glistening dam along the way and beautiful Karoo scenes as riders make their way to the welcoming second waterpoint stop. Then do a loop and head back towards Rusoord farm and the third and final waterpoint. From here it’s the final stretch back to Dwarsvlei Farm for a memorable day of Karoo riding.
All participants who cross the finish line will receive a finisher souvenir! Feel free to hop into the big round Karoo pool/dam before heading off to a piping hot shower powered by an old-school donkey (Wood-fired geyser) which has no reliance on electricity. Lunch will be a big delicious vetkoek and mince, which can be enjoyed in a lounging position in the various chill zones or seating areas.
The day ends with brilliant live music, a delicious Karoo-inspired supper, and prize-giving.
