By Matt · 299 comments

Are you up for a challenge? Isuzu Trucks are giving away four team entries for the Isuzu Trucks PE Plett MTB Race, taking place 3 – 6 September 2015.

The Isuzu Trucks Endurance Challenge kicked off today (20 April 2015) and over the next four weeks you’ll be faced with a series of Strava-based challenges. If you complete them all you’ll go into the draw to win one of the four team entries plus R 5000 towards your travel.

Here’s how it works:

1) Sign up for the Challenge using your Strava account

2) All your rides logged on Strava between 20 April 2015 and 17 May 2015 will be imported, analysed and badges awarded when you reach the targets set out for each.

Are you up for the Challenge?

Here is a look at what lies ahead:

Questions?

1. Will my indoor trainer / stationary bike sessions or manually logged rides count?

No, only rides tracked by a GPS device will be considered.

2. What if I sign up late?

You can sign up at any point in the competition. Any existing rides on Strava which fall within the competition period will be imported regardless of when you sign up.

Just got 12 hours in a week and 3000m to climb left. Was on target this week so far but got a call at 23h00 last night to come into work and sort out a kulula 737 with issues so lost out on the 3 hours I was due today. Will have to play catch up the last 3 days as no riding will happen today as i'm seriously tired.

The competition closes at midnight on Sunday, 17 May 2015. The Draw will then take place next week and winners announced by Friday, 22 May 2015 at the latest.

Great work to all those who've already completed the challenge!

Here are the latest stats.... 45 in contention so far.

Here are the latest stats:

  • Sign ups: 401
  • Badges earned: 2944

Here's a breakdown of the top spots:

  • 14 badges - 45 participants
  • 13 badges - 26 participants
  • 12 badges - 31 participants
  • 11 badges - 22 participants
  • 10 badges - 20 participants

Which badges do all those on 13, 12, 11 & 10 have left?

Only had a single ride last week   , so still need the 30hrs, 5895m and 600km.  But if all goes according to plan I should have them all by Sunday morning

I'm guessing the organisers get to see some pretty strange activities showing up on Strava...

Maybe I am paranoid, but can we trust the website saying you have all 14 badges? Wouldn't it be more reassuring if you receive an email confirming that you have achieved all challenges? Or can the names of all the people who have achieved the challenges not be put up somewhere? It would be very sad if you thought you did it only to hear you didn't qualify according to the organizers. However,it still would be a win-win situation: Even if do not win an entry I will be a lot fitter and stronger after all this. I really enjoyed the challenge!

Not to hpefull anymore with climbing numbers of persons with 14 badges.

Will be Crazy happy if I get this. Will go ride this weekend without needing badges to complete my training for the Monster next week.

If it says you have all 14 badges on the website then you don't need to worry, you'll be included in the draw.

If you are concerned send me your email address via PM and I'll confirm all is in order.

Just got the last badge...

Toughest one was 3000m in one week... you need a bit of time - lucky I was on leave this past week, so could spend the extra hours.

I agree. I did mine between the two long weekends (end April - beginning May).

When will the badges update for today's riding? I only needed the 1000m badge and I just completed the Bestmed road race that had 1100m of climbing but my profile still says I need the 1000m badge. Once it updates I have completed all badges!

Does it take some time for the badges to reflect? Completed what should be my last ride for the challenge and it still shows two badges required.

After I "sync with strava" it only takes a few minutes to update.

On strava, go into your training log near the top right corner of the page. A page comes up where it gives you a summary of your training per calendar week. On the left of the 'bubbles' it'll give you your time, distance and ascent for the week. Hover your cursor over each daily bubble and it'll give you all the info for that ride. Add everything up from the 20th of April and you'll know where you are badge wise.

I found that the badges only updated the following day, even if I sync'd.

My last badge is also not showing - after my ride this morning i'm over 600km. To re-sync the profile also doesn't work

Hi all,

The badges are updated by continually automated processes. There's been quite a flood of badge updates today so there may be some delay.

We will run a final check tomorrow to ensure badges have been allocated before finalizing the draw candidates.
