By Matt · 299 comments

Are you up for a challenge? Isuzu Trucks are giving away four team entries for the Isuzu Trucks PE Plett MTB Race, taking place 3 – 6 September 2015.

The Isuzu Trucks Endurance Challenge kicked off today (20 April 2015) and over the next four weeks you’ll be faced with a series of Strava-based challenges. If you complete them all you’ll go into the draw to win one of the four team entries plus R 5000 towards your travel.

Here’s how it works:

1) Sign up for the Challenge using your Strava account

2) All your rides logged on Strava between 20 April 2015 and 17 May 2015 will be imported, analysed and badges awarded when you reach the targets set out for each.

Are you up for the Challenge?

Here is a look at what lies ahead:

These badges apply to the full competition duration and any qualifying rides logged over that period count towards them.

Questions?

1. Will my indoor trainer / stationary bike sessions or manually logged rides count?

No, only rides tracked by a GPS device will be considered.

2. What if I sign up late?

You can sign up at any point in the competition. Any existing rides on Strava which fall within the competition period will be imported regardless of when you sign up.

Hi Matt, it would be nice to maybe let us know what is happening in the background? It's not the kind of sign-up and hold thumbs competition. Lots of guys have put in quite a bit of work to be part of this. The whole thing feels somewhat disappointing at this stage...

Hi all,

My apologies for the delay. While we (The Hub) administered the competition from a technical point of view, we have not been involved in the draw process.

I do know that the draw was done early this week and the winners would have been contacted via email by 22 May 2015 at the latest. As the T&C's do mention, there is a 72 hour window within which those winners must respond after which another winner would be selected.

Although I was hoping to have the final results to publish on Friday I expect that we will have them tomorrow. As soon as that lands in my inbox I promise you'll all be the first to know!

Thanks for your patience :)

Here is my problem, if they have contacted me and somehow it got lost. . . And I didn't get it, by posting the provisional I could have contacted them. . Darn it

Same here. Didn't even check my spam before Friday so it could well be automatically deleted... Damnit!

Based on the info we got here we all expect (and monitored our inboxes accordingly) some action on Friday! Eish.

Anyway - hope the lucky fish(es) appreciate that they won and have an awesome ride!

I enjoyed completing the challenge and initially thought I wouldn't .... I did get something out of it :)

To get rid of our frustrations we went up and down Malanshoogte 17 times today for a 2000+m climb. If we can do that 4 more times we might get close to the Everesting challenge.

Maybe one day when I big :)

Totally agree! It was fun to work towards it. And i wish the winners well in the race!

(And I hope the organisers also learnt something about the magic of communication in the process)

Thanks for administering this awesome competition Matt. I had fun completing the challenges and it got me on the bike when I didn't always feel like it. It also feel a lot better earning an entry than a simple lucky draw. Hope you'll run more of these in the future.

Thanks Matt, the Hub, Isuzu tracks.

Was really hoping to get this , but enjoyed the challenge.

Will definitely give it a crack again next time if it ever comes up.

I would say make it a bit tougher , or allow a person to earn the badges more than once.

Then take the guys with most badges to the draw.

I don't agree with this.  Some guys can ride a lot, and so it would give them an unfair advantage.  I work all week, and I have two young kids.  My riding time is limited.  Should I be precluded because of this?

I agree with dirtypot, not an option for for most of us to compete on "most badges" or most hours, longest distance etc

I thought this comp striked a nice balance between something that is a challenge but still achievable for the average weekend warrior

We assume nobody here won...people are probably too scared to say in case they get inundated with requests to be the riding partner... ;)

One would think by now they would have made winner announcements on

http://www.isuzutruckschallenge.co.za/

But nothing there... (that I can see)

Loved the challenge. A brilliant idea to give people a challenge, rather than just a pure lucky draw. Loved that you had to do a bit more than usual, but that it was doable. Great journey!

Would have loved the entry. Please, Isuzu, do something similar again next year!

nothing on the ''PE to Plett'' facebook page or http://www.peplett.co.za/

It was such a great marketing idea that seems to have ended with a massive wimper.

Yeah, Id have thought they should keep the momentum going and 'splash' the whole thing... but it fizzled out completely.

Hi everyone,

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for.....

The winners of the Isuzu Trucks Endurance Challenge....

  • Manie Redelinghuys
  • Graham Pearson
  • Clive Garrett
  • Nicole Dale Kuys

(3 out of the 4 are registered Hubbers)

Congrats to the winners and well done to all those who took part.

We will publish a formal press release soon with the official announcement and details of the impressive numbers participants racked up during the challenge.

It was great to hear feedback and see the enthusiasm from everyone taking part. I do understand the frustrations regarding the delays in communicating the results. It is something that we'll address in future editions.

Thanks again to all who've taken part.

Congrats to the winners. Enjoy your races :).

Despite the moaning and groaning at the end it was a jol and good training anyways. Will definitely be in again for the next challenge!

Congrats guys.

I think this can be a nice way to market new events in the future on the hub.
