Delvera hosts second Dirtopia 2015 Enduro near Stellenbosch

By Press Office · 10 comments

The Wellington Enduro proved to be a lot of fun for all participants, so the next event taking place at Delvera on the 17th of May is much anticipated. Anyone can try this discipline and course designer, Meurant Botha, loves taking part himself!

Enduro events are geared for mountain bikers that enjoy single track and are fit enough to ride the uphills, but more importantly like riding downhill fast! Therefore the more adventurous riders are attracted to this discipline of the sport, but the lady participation is growing and young riders are enjoying it.

Riders are only timed on certain stages, made up mostly of descending single track. The routes are not hugely technical, but when done at fast speeds, they do get tricky… On average there are four special stages in a day of the event, and riders go to the start of the next stage in ‘neutral’ or ‘liaison’ sections. This creates a social atmosphere and gatherings at the refreshment station, as no one is in a hurry.

Only pre-entries are accepted, so visit www.dirtopia.co.za to enter online.

The total distances do not matter, as the anaerobic exercise you get is enough to tire the fittest of riders. Timing is done with Amarider Trail Tags and times are available live on race day.

The Delvera trails are more than 10 years old and new routes are being built by the team especially for the event. First stage will start at the top of Klapmutskop with 360 views of Table Mountain & the winelands! Although there are prizes for the top males & females and medals for all, the event is about pure mountain bike riding. Dirtopia has organised nine Enduro events since 2012.

Fees start at R225 per rider and you can call the Trail Centre at 0218844752 for any queries. Three more Enduro events planned for 2015 happening on 12 July, 16 August & 15 November.

Been off the bike for the last 3 weeks, only managed to get an appointment with the specialist on the 13 May. My logic is telling me that I should be able to do it, but if I am still in pain after the doctors visit then my entry will be a waste.

However, Will one be able to enter on the day? If so then if alls good my side, I will enter for the fun of it
