Cycling South Africa confirms that there will be cyclists on the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee’s (SASCOC) OPEX programme for the Road to Rio 2016.

Operation Excellence (OPEX) covers a full range of support for the athlete, from coaching and training support and facilities to national and international training camp and competition expenses, as well as living expenses.

Some cyclists have also qualified for NAP (National Academy Programme) support, which is part of OPEX’s tiered support system for up-and-coming athletes. NAP supports cyclists in their national and international training camps and competition.

Bernard Esterhuizen (track cycling), Ernst van Dyk (Para-cycling) and Gerhard Viljoen (Para-cycling) have retained their support from the OPEX programme.

Para-cyclists Roxy Burns and Stuart McCreadie, BMX rider Teagan O’Keeffe, road cyclist Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, and mountain biker Candice Neethling will all be part of NAP.
