Step 1: Cleaning
The first step in cleaning the bike is cleaning the frame, and Motul has two cleaners for this: Frame Clean and Dry Clean. Frame Clean is a water-based cleaner with high dissolving power, which will allow you to remove the most resistant dirt such as sand, dust and mud.
If you don’t have an outdoor space to clean your bike, we recommend using Motul Dry Clean, a no-rinse frame cleaner that, after application, deposits a waterproof protective layer that prevents the accumulation of dust and dirt.
MOTUL FRAME CLEAN
MOTUL® Frame Clean dissolves and cleans the most persistent dirt from city, road, mountain bike frames, etc. Suitable for paint-coated surfaces as well as a wide variety of applications, including the most sensitive materials such as lacquer, chrome, paints, carbon fibre and plastics. MOTUL DRY CLEAN
MOTUL® Dry Clean is a dry cleaner for urban, road, mountain bike frames, etc. Designed for a wide variety of applications and specially formulated to clean bicycle frames and wheels with glossy and matt surfaces, MOTUL® Dry Clean leaves a waterproof protection. Step 2: Degreasing
After cleaning the bike frame, it’s time to degrease the chain, discs and brake pads. To degrease the chain, use Chain Clean, a quick-drying, solvent-free cleaner that, in addition to effectively cleaning the chain, prevents the deterioration of non-ferrous materials present in this part of the transmission system.
Secondly, to clean the brake pads and discs, use Brake Clean, a product that is also solvent-free and quick-drying, which will allow you to effectively remove dust, grease or tar to improve braking efficiency.
MOTUL CHAIN CLEAN
MOTUL® Chain Clean cleans all types of bicycle chains mounted on urban, road, mountain bikes, etc. using its strong dissolving power to remove the toughest dirt. It perfectly prepares the chain for optimal lubrication and its protective formula prevents aluminium, brass and non-ferrous metals from deteriorating. MOTUL BRAKE CLEAN
MOTUL® Brake Clean is a powerful, fast-drying, solvent-free, water-based bicycle brake cleaner. Specially formulated with readily biodegradable ingredients to clean brakes, brake rotors and pad residue, MOTUL® Brake Clean also removes dirt and grease from brake rotors. Restores braking performance and eliminates unpleasant squeals. Dissolves oil, grease and tar. Does not leave marks. It evaporates very quickly without leaving marks. More info
Step 3 & 4: Lubrication and Prevention
After degreasing and drying the bike, it is time to lubricate both the chain and the rest of the mechanisms. To lubricate and protect the chain, use Motul Chain Lube Dry, if you are going to go out in dry conditions, or Chain Lube Wet, if you are going to make your next route in conditions of high humidity or mud / water.
For the rest of the mechanisms, use EZ Lube, a multipurpose lubricant that after its application deposits a protective layer that will help prevent corrosion and seizing of the bike’s parts. Remember that after lubrication, you must remove the excess product with a dry cloth to prevent dirt from adhering.
Lastly, apply Tire Sealant tubeless tire sealant to prevent punctures. Motul Tire Sealant lasts up to 9 months.
MOTUL CHAIN LUBE DRY
MOTUL® Chain Lube Dry lubricates all types of bicycle chains mounted on city, road, mountain bikes, etc. that roll in dry and sunny conditions. Using Ester technology, MOTUL® Chain Lube Dry offers a very high lubricating capacity for bicycle chains, drivetrains, cassettes, cranksets, derailleurs, etc. used in dry conditions.
