All set for exciting Spur MTB League Western Cape finals

A record field and fierce competition is expected at the Western Cape Finals of the Spur Schools Mountain Bike League on Saturday, 12 September at the Paul Roos Gymnasium track in Stellenbosch.

Going onto the finals the frontrunners on the mixed teams log is ParelVallei High with 1447, followed by DF Malan with 840 points and Montana a close third with 836 points.

Home team Paul Roos is hoping to win the men’s category for the fourth year running and are currently lying comfortably top of the men’s log with an impressive 1049 points and second overall.

Other schools on the top 10 list for the 2015 season include Drostdy, Paarl Boys High, Kayamandi, Westerford High, Durbanville and SACS.

Riders that have participated in event 1, 2 & 3 should only have the indemnity form signed by parent and hand in at registration along with payment. Race boards will be allocated and given at this point.

Registration will open at 08h30 and close at 13h30. Course practice for primary schools will be from 08h30 – 09h30 with the first race setting off at 09h30 (Sub Nippers 7-8 years). At 10h00 it is the Nipper Boys (9-10) followed by the Nipper Girls (9-10) at 10h05; Sprog Boys (11-12) will start at 10h30 followed at 10h35 by the Sprog Girls (11-12). Sub Junior Boys A (13) will start at 11h00 and Sub Junior Girls A (13) at 11h05.

The course will reopen for practice from 11h40 to 12h10, but only once the track is clear.

The Sub Junior Boys B (14) set off at 12h15, Youth Men B (16) at 12h45, Youth Men A (15) at 13h20, Girls (14-18) at 14h00 and the Junior Men (17-18) wrapping up the day at 14h45.

Pre-entries close on Tuesday, 8 September at 12h00, but entries will then be taken on race day. The entry fee for primary school age categories is R50 en R60 for high school categories.
