About the event
Gravel Rush MTB Race – Event Introduction
The Gravel Rush MTB Race returns on 30 May at the iconic Boskoppie Lion and Tiger Reserve, delivering a true test of endurance, grit, and adventure across the Free State’s vast gravel landscapes.
Riders can choose from four distances tailored to every level of competitor:
280 km – the ultimate ultra-endurance challenge
160 km – a demanding long-distance test
86 km – a balanced endurance ride
30 km – an accessible route for newcomers and social riders
All routes start and finish at Boskoppie, taking riders through remote farm roads, open plains, and rugged terrain, with navigation guided by GPS for the 160km and 280km. The Gravel Rush is designed for riders who value self-sufficiency, resilience, and the raw experience of gravel racing.
Whether you’re chasing a podium, pushing personal limits, or simply riding for the experience, Gravel Rush offers a unique, no-nonsense MTB challenge in one of South Africa’s most distinctive racing environments.
