J-Bay Windfarm MTB Classic & Trail Run

Now in its 8th year, the J-Bay Wind Farm MTB Classic & Trail Run will take place on Saturday 15 July 2023.

This carbon-free sporting event returns to the coastal town as part of the overarching J-Bay Surfing programme, which draws both local and international visitors.

J-Bay Windfarm MTB Classic & Trail Run is a Cycling South Africa (CSA) Sanctioned event and will be run according to CSA rules.

A CSA license is required for the 60km MTB and 30km MTB race. If you don’t have an annual membership, you can purchase a CSA day license with your online entry for R50.

E-bikes are welcome in the 60km and 30km races and will have their own racing category.

CSA enforces minimum age restrictions based on race distances for all sanctioned MTB events.  To avoid disappointment at registration, please only select a race distance that you are allowed to participate in.

Children under the age of 8 years are to be accompanied by a participating adult.

As per CSA rules, you need to be 19+ years to race on an E-bike

Your age is based on the age you will be on 31 December of that year.

Please note – gravel bikes are not permitted as per CSA rules.

There are no age limits for the trail run however all participants under the age of 8 years are to be accompanied by a participating adult.

Friday – 14 July 2023 – Registration – 5-7pm – Mentorskraal, Jeffreys Bay

Saturday 15 July 2023 – Registration – 6-9am – Mentorskraal, Jeffreys Bay

07h00 – 10km Trail Run

07h15 – 5km Trail Run

09h00 – E-bike 60km

09h10 – E-bike 30km

09h30 – 60km MTB

09h40 – 30km MTB

09h50 – 10km MTB

10h00 – Prize giving for Trail Run

13h00 – Prize giving for MTB

*Start times are subject to change, please check back before race day to confirm your start time.

PRIZE MONEY:

The first 3 male and female MTB riders in the 60km race will win prize money as follows:

1st – R5000

2nd – R3000

3rd – R1000

The first 3 male and female riders in the 60km E-BIKE race will win prizes.

The first 3 male and female riders in the 30km race will win prizes.

The first 3 male and female riders in the 30km E-BIKE race will win prizes.

The first 3 male and female riders in the 10km race will win prizes.

The first 3 male and female trail runners in the 10km race will win prize money as follows:

1st – R1000

2nd – R750

3rd – R500

The first 3 male and female trail runners in the 5km race will win prizes.

Entries open on 9 June 2023

Entries close at midnight on Wednesday 14 July 2023.

Late entries are available at registration and incur a late entry fee of R60 each.
