So I have this friend, a great one at that, or so I thought.
And what this friend did was to convince me to buy a Mountain Bike.
"Be in nature", he said. "Wind in your hair", he said. "It will do you good", he said.
Well now, that was a load of K@k.
The Nature was pretty, and the wind was chilly, but let me tell you something... the "doing me good" part was a lie. A damn LIE I tell you!
It takes me back to the day I thought swimming would "do me good". 12 laps later, with flippers mind you, I wanted to end my life.
I like my life (mostly) and so with that, this white elephant cannot be an ornament in my house anymore. It has to go.
Now as you can probably pick up from what I'm putting down here, I hated every second of it. My balls hurt, my ass hurt, my legs hurt, my shin hurt (after it got struck multiple times) and after I nearly fell to my death on what can only be described as level 1 terrain, my ego got hurt.
NOTE: I didn't actually fall.
I'm 41, have a toddler, and cannot take many more blows to my ego, so please just buy this bike.
Just Do It.
Heck, I even left it in the same condition from that 1 fateful day out on the track. Mud and all.
And yes, rode it one time. Just. One. Time.
I hate mountain biking so much.
I will leave you with this parting piece of advice (you're welcome).
Don't be like me. If this is your first rodeo, PLEASE pray to whoever it is that you pray about it before you spend R24,000 on something you could potentially hate.
If you've been down this road (or trail), you're either crazy or bored, and I commend you for that. In that case, please buy my bike.
EDIT:
Forgot to add that the bike is actually great and that I'm the problem here. Dunno, maybe I didn't spend enough time on bikes in my youth.
Thanks for reading this far.
I bid you adieu!
PS: He's still my friend and actually great (when he's not recommending this k@k to me) :)
PPS: If you buy it, I'll wash it :)
