Riding Style

Trail/Enduro

Reluctantly selling this fun bike due to imminent emigration. I've heard it described as the 'perfect trail bike for Gauteng' - the guy had lots of tattoos, so I assume he knows what he's talking about. You can run it as a lighter weight XC bike, but this one has been built up for more aggressive riding as a trail/baby enduro bike. Over-forked to 150mm with the very versatile MRP loop, slackening the head angle but with the MRP variable ramp control allowing you some control over progressiveness for climbing. 120mm travel in the back provided by the Rockshox Monarch RT3 with climb / trail / open modes. This bike has geometry ahead of its time and feels more stable and confidence inspiring at speed than my skill level allows for. Weighed a hair over 13kg last time I bothered, without pedals.

It's running some bling XTR cranks with a OneUp chainring. Shifting is 1x11 SRAM with chain wear below 0.5 and reasonable shifting (for SRAM :), XT brakes bring that sweet mineral oil powered stopping action - 203mm rotor in front helps too. New front brake pads fitted, rear brake pads are finned and have a few more trails left in them.

Suspension was serviced less than 500kms ago and still feels good. There is one small mark on one fork stanchion that I was not able to capture on my cellphone effectively. Pivot bearings were all checked, regreased, rotated, and torqued. Two of the main pivot bearings should be replaced soon, the rest should be good for another season. BB is smooth and is well-sealed.

Wheels are 650b and were hand built with brand new Stan's rims less than 100km ago onto unbranded cup and cone hubs. These are basically totally silent - please get your angry bee fix somewhere else. A few nipples and bearings were replaced. New tape fitted of course.

Tyres are typical wannabe shredder choices, with a Maxxiss Aggressor rear and Minion DHR front, both with heavier casings and 2.3", topped up with Joe's sealant. I also have a set of Schwalbes on hand included for free, happy to fit them for you too, or you can spend 3 weeks on PinkBike reading reviews and getting ever more confused by Maxxis' inability to figure out a coherent product line.

X-Fusion dropper post is smooth enough, and it comes with a Selle Italia XC flow saddle rather than the Phenom pictured, but you can twist my arm - I have a few lying around and am happy to fit whatever you'd like for the right price.

Specialized 'Benny' signature model pedals are included. You can have some SPDs rather if you want as well.

The cockpit is currently a lightweight ProCraft Carbon fibre handlebar with matching stem. I can offer you a Spank Vibrocore riser bar or a Lyne AMP 35mm carbon bar and stem as well as an alternative. Let's talk.

All in all, ready to ride, and happy to negotiate on parts and price. Collection in Craighall Park near Rosebank, Johannesburg, or shipping anywhere in the country for R500. Feel free to send your expert friend to inspect it but please do not send your 'driver' to come pick it up 'pending instant EFT'.
