Is ‘Work From Home’ not as much fun as it once was? To celebrate Worker’s Day, Trail’s End Bike Hotel is running a midweek special for the whole of May so that you can treat yourself to a week of ‘Work From Home’ but with a different view.

With fast Wi-Fi that runs on solar, you won’t lose connectivity during load shedding, and we even have some plug points running off solar power too, so you can work uninterrupted. Although if loadshedding is your normal excuse to get outdoors for a break, our trails will be just out the back door, beckoning you for a run, walk or cycle. Or if you want to get your blood pumping before the day’s work duties commence, join one of our fitness classes, what with HIIT, Pilates, Yoga and Spinning classes you’ll be able to try something new every day!

This is the perfect excuse for the digital nomads to get out to Elgin and experience a little of what our beautiful valley has to offer, whether a cheeky sundowners with a view is what you’re looking for after a day of graft (the Elgin Grabouw Sports Club and Old MacDaddy’s both have a happy hour and a dam(n) fine view of the sunset to go with it) or if you’re looking for a classier wine tasting in the afternoon, there are a vast number of excellent farms in the area. Looking for something more adventurous, why not go on an Eco Quad Bike Tour or experience the thrill of the Cape Canopy Tours?
(This offer is valid for direct bookings only)

So, what is Trail’s End Bike Hotel?

You’ve heard of a ski lodge, right? Well this is the same, just not for skiing, this one’s for cycling (and running and hiking and all those fun activities!) Being located at the trail head for the Grabouw Forest Trails and a short pedal across to the Oak Valley Trails, we are the perfect location for a training camp or a weekend of riding with friends.

BUUUT, we aren’t only geared towards cyclists, our trails are world class for running too, having hosted the AfricanX and plenty of other awesome trail runs. We also have a 20m purpose built training pool and with the Elgin Grabouw Sports Club only 2km away with the perfect dam for open water swim training, we are an ideal location for triathletes to get a solid training block in. There’s a good reason Grabouw has long hosted the biggest Xterra in the world, come and visit to see why!

Then again, the weather is starting to turn a little grey, so what to do on the stormy days that you can’t convince yourself to go outside? Well, we’ve had rave reviews about our super cosy fireside lounges, where you can either curl up with a book from our Liberty Books library, catch up on the latest bike racing with our GCN+ Subscription (that’s right, we’ll be screening all the UCI World Cups and might even have free beer for each screening) or play a board game you haven’t had time to play in years! And if you do want to get the blood pumping even in the cold, ‘HIIT’ up one of our fitness classes, from High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes with The Fit Box, to Pilates and Spinning classes with PBStudios, to Yoga with Whole Being Spirit, all at Trail’s End!

Are you into exploring the outdoors but not too keen on hiking or cycling? We also have the Cape Adventure Zone Eco Quad Bike Tours operating from Trail’s End and some awesome 4×4 trails in the mountains behind Trail’s End, as well as a motorbike enduro trail just up the road.

More things to do in the area abound, Elgin is known for its excellent quality Cool Climate Wines, and there are plenty wine farms to visit for a tasting (we recommend visiting a few by bike but can’t vouch for your safety while doing so!), the Cape Canopy Tours was voted the 2nd best new attraction in the world in 2015 by Lonely Planet. Looking for good cuisine? The list of great restaurants is also substantial, but you may be stuck at Trail’s End (with Chef James’ rave review food) for the evenings as restaurants tend only to be open for brekkies and lunches most days out here. A little further afield there’s the Betty’s Bay Penguin Experience and Botanical Gardens, or pop to Hermanus for the day, for some whale watching or shark cage diving.
Well, we don’t know what you’re waiting for, book a stay today!
