The winner can choose any frame model and colour from the Santa Cruz range which will be fitted with a standard Santa Cruz build kit by Rush Sports.

For more details and terms and conditions head over to the TokaiMTB website.

Closing time and date for entry will be midnight on Friday 14th July 2017, after which no further entries to the draw will be accepted. The winner will be announced via Bike Hub and TokaiMTB on Monday the 17th July 2017.

More about the TokaiMTB Trail Fund:

TokaiMTB is a constituted representative group and publicly funded non-profit organisation. As one of the founding members of the Table Mountain Mountain Bike forum, our mandate is to assist SANParks with mountain bike activity management in the Table Mountain National Park, with the aim of providing the recreational users a safe and well-managed mountain bike trail facility.

TokaiMTB is in possession of a SANParks issued permit to construct and maintain mountain bike trails within the Table Mountain National Park, as well as host community volunteer programmes in Tokai. In order to continue operations, TokaiMTB relies on donations from both business and the public. Donation drives take the form of innovative fundraisers and offer rewards to individuals who enter and thereby donate to the fund. This helps TokaiMTB offer users full-time representation and trails management and meet the financial needs of this recreational activity.

Quick question, how did you enter? For some reason a few confirmations never reached their destination.

If you received a Payfast confirmation reflecting an order number preceded with a #hashtag, you're in!

If it was manual EFT and you paid and sent your POP, in! (Although we did cross-check every EFT with bank statements and a fine-toothed comb for the few who did not send their POP's.)

If it was Snapscan, oddly, we've not had any issues there.. (and quite a popular payment option too!)

I paid via Payfast on 03/07/2017. I will go looking for a confirmation in my email again.

OK - so you learn: it appears my wife and I share a Payfast account (didn't know that....!!). So if ticket 788 wins, sadly Elsa won't win but Talus will. Jay.

I never got confirmation for any of my entries. Payfast or eft. Sure they have it all in hand????

If I understand correctly, there are no ticket numbers.  The number given is a transaction number, so you only get one even if multiple tickets were purchased.

Makes things a bit more complicated than a traditional raffle, but I'm sure the organisers will have a system for taking this into account.

Correct and correct.

We do, but it is odd that not even Payfast sent you a receipt. If your payments went through, you'll have nothing to worry about, we'll be phoning you.*

Let's check anyway, send your details to trails@tokaimtb.co.za and I'll reply with confirmation.

*don't take that literally... although it could well be you.**

We'll know Monday for sure, unionised bank electronic systems don't get paid enough to work over weekends.

From posts on this thread, it seems as though about 1000 transactions were processed. I'm guessing that most people bought more than one entry per transaction.  So, that probably means at least R300 000* for the Tokai trails

(*Disclaimer: My own guestimate.)

How long will I have to decide which bike I want after you call me tomorrow?

...I just can't make my mind up - leaning towards the Hightower LT at the moment

I also feel as if I have a massive oestrogen attack and can just not make up my mind. "Do you think this Santa makes my quads look bigger?

It IS a tough choice! I really feel for you guys having to make such a difficult decision... there'll be some time but the big question is, will it be enough?

Not to be nasty or anything, but I'll post pics of my new Hightower LT/Bronson (still making up my mind) as soon as I have it.

Thanks to the rest for participating... :whistling:  :whistling:  :whistling:

I opened this thread with dread - thinking the winner had been announced and I had no phone call yet. Seems there's still time for superluck!

When you say "have it", are you referring to the short period of time between collecting it and delivering it to my house?  :whistling:

I wonder if the Nomad would be substantially heavier to ride up the mountain than the Bronson? I want the absolute maximum amount of sus travel and be able to hit DH trails eventually, but still cycle it up to the start with relative ease.

And then of course there's the 27.5" vs 29" debate, which I know is as long as time itself. My 26" was quick in the berms, and the 29" is a donkey. Could 27.5" be the sweet spot?

Nomad is a good pedaller, by the reviews so far. And if I can ride my behemoth up the hills, you can definitely ride the Nomad. It also comes down to how you spec it. Which tyres you have, whether you care about rolling resistance on the rear etc. Even an Epic can climb like a donkey if you build it burly and put DH tyres on.

It's not all about the weight. It helps, but there's also suspension design to consider. And the VPP is one of the better pedallers.

As for 275/29/26 - it's ALL about the geometry. You get 26ers that are utter shaite, just like you get niners that are like a chihuahua on meth (ito the poppiness and ease of direction changes)

In that case I would definitely take the Nomad. In fact, I would be sorely tempted to take the V10 just because I've watched WAAAAAY too much Rampage reruns :P But the odds of me using it to it's full potential or for what it was designed to do is very slim.

Edit: I see that there's a Hightower, and then there's a Hightower LT. The LT is the winner winner chicken dinner. That's the one to take (to the person who wins, take that one. In yellow. Then bring it to me.)
