Video: Coetzenburg cross-country course

By BikeHubCoreAdmin · 25 comments

Construction of the Coetzenburg cross-country course in Stellenbosch started on 25 March 2015. Bennet Nel and his team at Ace of Spades have been tasked with the track building. Having hosted Western Province XCO Champs in May, South African XCO Champs will take place at Coetzenburg on 18 July.

For the SA XCO Champs, the course builders will be focussing on adding more technical features and including A and B lines. A lap of the course will be 5.3 kilometres with 210 metres of total ascent.

The course is situated on Stellenbosch Universities’ grounds (Coetzenburg Mountain) and will form part of their facilities.

You can keep up to date with the progress of the course by following the hashtag #xcoCoetzenburg on social media.

There are some fun bits on the course- I've been riding bits and pieces as it has been built over the last couple of months.

Large number of riders up there lately - but think with exams on now it might not be as busy..

Can link it up with g-spot, Eden and the top trail and get a pretty decent ride in.

Going there this weekend to check it out. First trail outing on a hardtail in over 3 years...

very hardtail friendly (just don't try the middle line on the stairs unless you like having your saddle performing the Heimlich maneuver on you)

Saddle will be VERY close to the seat post! I don't do space invaders: Saddle Edition.

Rode it a couple of weeks ago, absolutely awsome. Very fast, some decent jumps. Plus it is right around the corner from g spot. Make a day of it.
