In celebration of Greg Minnaar winning his fourth World Championship Title in 2021 and racing the 2022 season in the hallowed rainbow stripes, Santa Cruz Bicycles and Maxxis Tyres – two of Minnaar’s longtime sponsors – hosted The Good Vibes Tour in honour of The GOAT’s inspiring achievement.

The three-stop tour visited Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg and Joburg at the end of November, with Santa Cruz and Maxxis retailers inviting their key customers to meet and spend time getting to know Greg over a few ice-cold Mountain Goat lagers.

The Tour was not only about Good Vibes, but also about contributing to the Greater Good with a signed Greg Minnaar 2022 Santa Cruz Syndicate Jersey being auctioned during each of the 3 evenings.

In total, an incredible R106 000 was raised, with Cape Town and Joburg raising R68 000 in aid of #ChasingZero, an anti-rhino poaching initiative and Greg’s official charity. In Maritzburg, R38 000 was raised for Town Bush Trails, a local trail advocacy and building group whose work benefits all mountain bikers in the local area.

It’s not every day that you get to shoot the breeze with one of South Africa’s greatest ever sportsmen. Minnaar has an effortless ease about him, and is always happy to take a photo or sign a cap or T-shirt for fans

Greg spent time during the evening taking questions from the floor with topics ranging from how his recovery is progressing, his favourite downhill track of all time as well as what he considers to be the next technological leap in the sport. And as always, Minnaar made time to engage one-on-one with guests.

He probably could have retired many years ago.

From one Els to another.
