Test your knowledge in the 2019 Bike Hub Fantasy Tour

By Press Office · 137 comments

The annual Bike Hub Tour de France Fantasy Tour is back for 2019. This year Bike Hub is offering Lazer helmets and eyewear as prizes during the Fantasy Tour. We have also introduced a pools feature allowing you and your friends to test your knowledge in your own leagues.

How it works

The Fantasy Tour is all about picking your very own Tour de France dream team. You can choose any riders from any team to make up the ultimate virtual team.

  • Pick your squad of 10 riders: 8 active riders and 2 substitutes.
  • Team submissions close once the Tour begins: at 12h00 SAST on Saturday, 6 July 2019.
  • Substitutes: On the two rest days during the race you’ll have the opportunity to substitute riders. You can drop the non-performers or bring in some fresh legs.
  • Once substituted, riders can be used again, however points are only allocated while a rider is active…. if they’re on the bench you don’t score points.

Guys in my team picking up tummy bugs and dropping out of the race. At least no headaches for me around substitions now

I wonder if this is the stage at which the points start coming from the GC contenders rather than the sprinters.

I doubt it as the next 2 stages are 'flat'....

Pinot is doing well.. pity he is on my bloody bench.

My hypothesis is based on watching Sagan pulling some serious amps up yesterday's cat 1 climbs and I am not sure how many of these he still has in the tank. Although we have only 3 cat 1 climbs for today and tha same for tomorrow. All shall be revealed!

Yeah, hilly today, 'Flat' tomorrow, rest day Tueday and flat on Wednesday...

After that we have the ITT, big mountains, some intermediate days, more big mountains and the finale... So Thursday we should start seeing the GC starting to resemble the real leaderboard and by Sunday evening we 'should' see who is a contender and who is a pretender...

As usual my Fantasy team is solid mid to lower table rubbish with no respite on the bench, so I'm just here for the racing!

I know anything can happen, and luck plays a part, but reviewing the route before the start would indicate that anyone that has more GC guys in the starting lineup rather than sprinters/breakaway specialists are scoring less. Besides the TTT and one monster stage, the first 10 stages have been scripted for sprinters, breakaway and green jersey riders.

I know that feeling

Don't want to speak to early, but with EBH up the road in the breakaway it seems like the best opportunity yet for TDD to get a result.

Not sure what to do with my subs.

Nibs in the team not performing.

Porte and Barguil on the bench, but who to replace.

My team Jumbo riders?

I was thinking of dropping WvA on the rest day to make space for my GC hopefuls, he must have heard of my plans :)

Sorry Nibbles, bench for you it seems...

I'm keeping my sprinters for the next week. They will do better than my two mountain goats I have on the bench.

If woke originated from a typo, then yes ;-)

Subbing Caleb Ewan for Warren Barguil. Absolute gamble! Caleb looks out of contention for scoring points for young rider but might still take a few points in tomorrow's stage. 1 flat stage vs 3 mountain stages and 1 time trial.. Warren did't show much form until now, but I'm hoping he can score a few points in the mountains at least!

Then an obvious sub for Laporte that fell sick and out of the tour. Subbing with Rohan Dennis who I'm backing to take the win in the time trial.

Bringing in my bench Fuglsang and Bernal for Valverde and Viviani. Doing it reverse alphabetical starting with Z

No subs for me, must be the first time that I haven't been forced to sub. Now for the GC contenders to win some stages and score some points.

But, it one of your riders wins the most aggressive award, then that’s easily 3-5 days worthy of stage points.

Still not sure what to do.

Porte to replace Bling.

Barguil to replace Groenewegan.

Other candidates to replace was between Nibali and WVA.

Bling will score points in green Jersey comp.. I donno about Porte he may try something but I am doubtful that he will mean much on the score sheet[emoji2368]

Tough one..
