Stellenbosch Pro Cycling announces their roster for 2016, the predominantly student team has been changing its name from year to year but hopes to keep it the same for years to come. The team has progressed from being the Maties team, to Smith & Associates and Peugeot Stellenbosch/delione in 2015. Alex Heward, rider and team owner, aspires to create “an environment where students can train, race and be supported in a professional manner, whilst still obtaining tertiary education”.
In 2016 the team will also have a stagier program, where riders can join the club/academy and make use of the teams coaching and infrastructure for training and racing. These riders will be able to race with the team and reap some of the benefits on a performance based criteria.

- Kyle Basson (23, Masters Sport Science)
- Ian Lategan (18, Rek & Stat)
- The sixth and final rider is Declan Sidey (21, Bcomm), new signing coming across from the Lights By Linea set-up.

The team will be supported by Omnico and riding Cannondale Bicycles, using Bell Helmets and Giro Shoes. The other supporting companies include: Power2Max South Africa, Isostar Sports Nutrition, Racefood, Squirt and Salice Eyewear.
The team will focus on all large national races as well as some international, including the Tour de Maurice and Student World Champs. First up for the team is the Mpumalanga Tour where they will hope to make their mark early on in the season.
