Ryder Innovation is a brand born out of 26 years of sourcing, distributing, and marketing quality cycling accessories. Given our experience gained in this realm, we noticed that not many manufacturers were designing products that answered specific needs within the cycling market. We took it upon ourselves to design, manufacture and distribute such products which were affordable, functional, and unique – while ensuring they all answered a specific problem for cyclists.

One such problem is chain lubing.

Although this process is an essential part of bicycle maintenance and plays an imperative role in the bicycle’s efficiency, it is often neglected. This is in part due to the mess associated with chain lubing but more importantly, the fact that chains are not lubed correctly to ensure maximum drivetrain efficiency. Luberetta was designed with this in mind and provides users with a very simple solution.

Filled open cap - Studio.jpg

A portable 15ml container with a screw-on cap allows users to fill the container with his or her favourite lube. By placing Luberetta over the inside, bottom half of the chain and simply back pedalling, each link will receive a drop of lube through our patented silicon dispenser.

Luberetta thus simplifies the lubing process whilst ensuring that each chain link receives adequate lube and in doing so eliminates waste and mess. Like all of the products within the Ryder Innovation stable, Luberetta is designed to be part of an ecosystem ensuring easy storage and quick accessibility.

I've been using this for the last 10 years - whether it's better or worse than the traditional Bicycle stuff I can't say.  But my chains and clusters seem to be fine and the applicator (or Brush for want of a better word) works perfectly.

thats what my home made stuff looks like.

Just use a straightened paper clip to unclog it. Easy Peazy

Or take side cutters and clip the nozzle further down where it's wider, no more clogging. Scissors also work but feel so domestically effeminate, with side cutters you feel really handy and can make a grunt just like Tool Man Tim.

I'm guessing it's the same guys that pee on the floor instead of in the bowl that need one of these devices ????

Rather use a Stanley knife, cut the nozzle and half your hand off.

some feedback.

I filled it up before I left for cape town, did not use it in cape town so popped it into a plastic bag and stuck it in my luggage for the return. I'm not sure if it was the airpressure or something pushing against it in my luggage but it leaked, luckily into the plastic bag.

I cleaned it up and left it on its side on my workbench, still with a small amount of lube in it, this weekend I went into the workshop and found a little puddle under the device.

On the next iteration I'd like them to come up with a way for the nozzle piece to lock into position on the bottle piece, so that when you unscrew the lid it does not unscrew the nozzle piece at the same time.

The next thing is the lube I'm using is clear, when using it out of its normal container it leaves a big enough sizes bubble on the link which lets you see that you've dropped lube on it, with the Luberetta you cant really see, so I landed up applying some pressure to squeeze the bottle and ran the chain around twice.

On the plus side it is quick to run the chain through, and having the guides means less concentration is needed.

So the old small bottles still mess less .... :P

Pity they did not properly test it before releasing to the market .... will wait for them to get it right ....

I wanted to hate this thing so much, but got one for free, and it is pretty awesome, lubing a chain is not a difficult task doing it the "old fashioned" way, but this little thing is actually pretty amazing ????

Demmit ... not what we wanted to hear ....  :whistling:

Still using "their lube", or have you topped up with your normal lube ?  Any issues with leaking ?

During the Eselfontein ride some of the riders re-lubed mid event due to the excess dust .... I also had some bad sounds over the last few climbs when using the large ring at the back.  Thankfully the climbing was mostly in the first part, so I knew about the the issue, but could just shift down one gear.  Having had similar happen during very long rides in the dusty months on our trails I am considering sominthin like this for a hassle free solution along long rides.

It doesnt come with lube, just the empty bottle.

For something like you describe above its ideal. I do wonder though, how would you get rid of the dust on the chain first before applying lube ? surely applying lube onto a dusty chain is a big no no

Just using the lube that it comes with for now, seems good enough, I haven't carried it with me anywhere,  I just leave it lying flat on my work bench, have not noticed any leaks, the lube is pretty thick, so it takes quite a squeeze to get it on the chain as well

Such a fine balance ....

Over lube at home, and it is one gunky mess after a long dusty ride ....

Keep it lubed, without excess, and it sometimes gets noisy towards the end of a long dusty ride.

YES, I would hate to put fresh lube onto a dusty chain.  But that would be for the last 20 odd km to get back, followed by a proper clean, dry, re-lube.

Bought two, one for home and another that sits in a go bag. Topped them both up with my regular lube. No complaints and a useful timesaver in the morning, especially if forgetting to lube up the night before.

the leak into the plastic bag during the flight would be due to the internal pressure being higher than external.

On the lid unscrewing the applicator head, I' already mailed them about this. What they need to do is use a different pitch thread on the two components or the cover should just snap into place, thread is not needed

Your thoughts on "their lube" vs buying the empty unit and using your own preferred lube ?

Prefer my own lube.the supplied lube is too runny

Yep, that’s why I mentioned the airpressure.

rhe different pitch threads sounds like a good idea.

Strange, I found it to be fairly thick, I do agree about the thread issue though, I had the same thing happen to me a couple of times now

And you can apply it to the chain straight from the bottle...

all I know is I will buy a few each time I go into my LBS, as it seems with all "better" vs2,345 products they just dont seem to last,

when I started riding bikes I never even knew what was the ball park price of a cassette as they were only replaced if I fell or I spoilt myself buying a really old second hand bike with a poked cassette and then it was lunch money to replace

Man bike parts pricing insane never mind bikes
