Mark Cavendish: One Obsession

By Press Office · 19 comments

Known as the Manx Missile, Mark Cavendish, a Brit from Isle of Man, is a professional road cyclist who rides for Etixx-Quick-Step. Originally a track cyclist in the madison, points race and scratch race disciplines, Cavendish has competed on the road

since 2006.

He is a double Madison World Champion and Commonwealth Games gold medalist on the track. He has won 25 Tour de France stages during his career. Cavendish achieved eleven wins in his first professional season, equaling the record held by Alessandro Petacchi.

99% is never enough; it has to be 100%. every aspect of my preparation has to be right. that is what’s going to make a difference.

In the 2008 Tour de France he won four stages, a then- unprecedented achievement for a British cyclist. Then he surpassed this feat by winning six stages in 2009. He has since been described as the fastest sprinter in the world. Cavendish recorded his 100th career stage win at the 2013 Giro d’Italia and his 25th career Tour de France stage win at the 2013 race. In the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2011, Cavendish was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to British Cycling.

Mark Cavendish studies, analyzes, and every aspect of his performance, looking for any opportunity to progress. From measuring his own wattage output, to pinpointing his drag co-efficiency in a state-of-the-art wind tunnel, to adjusting his seat position by a fraction of a millimetre, he leaves nothing to chance.

I don't care how technically advanced these Jawbreakers are, they look awful. It's like a bad flashback to the 80's.

All this technological advancement and the sweat still ends up in your eyes. I have the previous Cav Edition Oakleys and it is the last time I ever bought anything Oakley.

As advertised, been riding with a pair for just over a month now. Prism lens is proper, zero tint change so visibility is constant when going into forest sections. Really becomes apparent when riding through those dappled light sections.

For me, definitely riding with these as my default riding glasses, even used them a few times on the motorbike.

that zero change into shaded areas is very appealing. Thanks DD :)
