Tubeless tyre technology is arguably one of the most significant improvements to mountain biking over the past years. Although this technology is a massive improvement there is a good chance you have had a ride ruined by a tubeless tyre failure and not having the right tools on hand to fix it. For this reason we developed the Shred Zeppelin all-in-one tubeless repair tool.

Tubeless repair solutions in the past have been somewhat unrefined and required many separate parts to create a complete kit. Our goal was to design an all-in-one solution that would integrate all the required tools and could also be attached to the bike. The Shred Zeppelin has the same silhouette as a CO2 canister and is compatible with CO2 brackets and includes a tubeless plug applicator, tubeless plug storage, CO2 regulator and a valve core remover.

Tubeless Plug Applicator and Storage

If you unscrew the threaded end of the tool and thread it into the CO2 regulator side the Shred Zeppelin becomes a Tubeless Plug applicator. The tubeless plugs are stored within the body of the tool. The shortened applicator prong design prevents the plug being inserted too far in to the tyre. Simply fold over the tubeless plug after inserting it in to the prong, plug the tyre and pull out the tool, the plug is short enough not to require trim- ming.

CO2 Regulator

ccs-62657-0-53595700-1579608566.gif

Unscrew the back end of the tool and the Shred Zeppelin becomes an in-line CO2 regulator. Screw in a CO2 cartridge fully to puncture the seal then push over the opened valve. Tightening or loosening the cartridge will regulate the CO2 flow.

Valve Core Tool

ccs-62657-0-07244700-1579608588.gif

Inside the threaded end of the tool is a valve core removal slot. Simply place the tool over the valve core and turn it to tighten or remove the valve core. It is recommended that the valve core be removed if a tubeless tyre needs to be re-seated on the rim.

have another look at the plug kit that you bought for the 4x4, or motorcycle .... they all come with a tube of puncture repair glue.  In the instructions it recommends that you replace the glue once used, as it hardens in the tube once opened.  I mostly used the glue when doing bundu repairs on the 4x4 or bikes.

NOT a good idea to seal sidewall punctures ... but when in the bush you sometimes have to ....

Have NOT seen the glue being sold with the kits for MTB ... probably because it is used with tubeless setups, where some slime is expected to seal that last little opening

December we stopped to help a gent on the Meerendal trails.

Hole just too big for the slime to work ... too small to get the plug in .... had to wait until another rider with a Samori Sword stopped.  One plunge with the reamer and in the plug went.

EDIT - think it is only the Samori that still includes a reamer ...

Have you not seen what the plugging tool looks like its got a point which you stick in like a knife then pull back the more resistance the better. If a thorn can get in there so can I

In fairness .... my comments stem from repairs to bike and vehicle tires.

I have not needed to plug a tubeless along the trail.  Seeing the gent struggle at Meerendal without a reamer made me have another look at my toolkit.  Shopped around and looked at kits at most local shops.  Actually bought the "Slug plug" unit, purely due to its small size.  Just could not shake the image of that gent struggling along the trail .... ended up buying the Samori Sword.

I'm surprised a samori tool worked, Those cheap Burmese knockoffs aren't safe. I use the genuine Sahmurai swords....

TBH is an excellent product and idea, if only they would saamry! slug plug as well, well constructed but the spare plugs are kept somewhere else. The Lynn idea takes the negative out of the others.

Personal experience is that I have lost lots of Samurais, touch wood have not had to use my Slugplug yet, but to have the spare plugs within the device is awesome. Well done Lynne

I have probably used a thousand plugs.

Never use the reamer, or glue.

This looks beautifully made, but I usually want to get to the plug ASAP, so screwing attachment is not ideal.

A two sided tool, one small and one big, would be great, holes vary in size.

I've never lost a Sahmurai sword but I have broken several through hangar rash - bike being tipped over by one of shepards or the kids or  at the coffee shop...maybe even a fall or two.

Storing the plugs is easy, just slide the plugs onto the plugging tool and roll the packing around the tool before sliding it back into the handlebar.

And this launches the exact same week I buy the plug kit for my One-Up EDC...

2 days ago I bought the Sahmurai-sword... Now I see this.

Really neat idea.

Couldn't see, but does it come with something to keep debris out where the cartridge screws into?

Like this much more than my purchase 2 days ago.

Nice idea, but pretty useless on the trails.

The bomb device could not puncture the seal on the bomb the first time I used it. I eventually had to remove the rubber seal to get it to punch which caused most of the air to blow out when I tried to bomb my tire.

The plug tool also did not cover itself in glory as it just made the hole bigger and bigger and not plugging at all.

Lots of money for nothing...

Hi Rudi

Sorry to hear your Shred Zeppelin didn't perform as it should have. Before shipping out the product we made a change to the O-ring size to allow for a better punching on certain bombs with a concave seal. It seem you may have received one with the incorrect O-ring, we'll send out a replacement unit for you today.

As for the plug side, our plug applicator falls within the same dimensions as most popular applicators on the market (image below) so I am interested if the performance would have been any different. Was the hole perhaps pretty large to begin or in a difficult position along the tyre bead? We plugged a lot of tyres with our prototypes without fail, so your feedback is important for us for future product improvements.

Cheers

Dayle
