Other than their love for the sport of mountain biking, Erik Kleinhans (RECM) and Robyn De Groot (Ascendis Health) have another thing in common; on Saturday, 23 May 2015 they will both make their debut at one of South Africa’s most revered one day mountain bike races, the FNB Magalies Monster Mountain Bike (MTB) Classic presented by ISUZU.

“I know that the FNB Magalies Monster is a beast,” says De Groot. “I try to take part in a few new events each year, this adds to the adventure. I have heard super things about this race. The 80km Monster isn’t for the faint-hearted and features some good climbing and technical riding. I am looking forward to the challenge. My goal will be to race as best I can, perform as best I can and have fun”.
According to Kleinhans this will be the first time that he takes part in an event in this area. “I’ve heard that the route is hilly, rocky and quite technical. This sounds like my type of riding. I am definitely looking forward to taking part in something different. Stillwater Sports’ events are always well organised. I am looking forward to a new challenge, as it always helps to keep things exciting. Apart from a good social experience almost always offered by mountain biking, racing is my profession. I hardly ever line up for a race without a top result in mind”.
