Kelsey, Kleinhans ready for MTB party of the year

By Press Office · 2 comments

Affectionately known as the mountain bike party of the year, the 3rd annual Pennypinchers Origin Of Trails is guaranteed to live up to its reputation. Taking place in Stellenbosch on Friday, 27 and Saturday, 28 November 2015, entrants are encouraged to focus more on the trails and less on racing.

Former Master’s World Downhill Champion and multiple SA Downhill Champion Myles Kelsey is excited to toe the line at the Pennypinchers Origin Of Trails. “South Africa is packed with events that cater for the hardcore racing snakes,” says Kelsey. “The Pennypinchers Origin Of Trails places more emphasis on the trail experience of the rider. I believe that more mountain bike events should have such a focus. Life is too short for it always to be about racing. A proper mountain bike race, the routes feature killer climbs, killer single-track and minimal district roads. I am looking forward to good times on the bike with other riders and of course the beer at the finish. ”

“As a professional mountain biker I need to be on peak performance for as long as possible during the season,” says Ariane Kleinhans. “I therefore really welcome the invitation to enjoy an event. At other races there is never time to talk to other riders. After having spent two months in Europe I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again while doing what we love most, riding our bikes. For me the Pennypinchers Origin Of Trails is like a yearend function that celebrates our sport.”

This much anticipated event gives riders the “once a year” opportunity to experience a spectacular combination of single-track that have been previously unknown and through the year inaccessible to the mountain biking community of Stellenbosch.

My psychic powers senses a rage thread to appear on 27 November about incompetent MTBers clogging the singletracks
