ION South Africa announced this week that it has signed on as new title sponsor for the very popular Weskus Fat Bike event. “The Weskus Fat Bike is a lifestyle event, something exciting and very different,” said Andrew Cattell, the new distributor of ION in Sub Saharan Africa, commenting on what attracted the global outdoor apparel brand to the event.
“ION promotes a healthy lifestyle, with the view of keeping people outdoors,” Andrew said. “Our goal is to make sure people look good and are comfortable and protected while riding, doing water sports or even after a ride,” he said.
Now in its third year, the Weskus Fat Bike covers some 90 kilometers of fine West Coast riding over two days. The event has no winner and the idea is more of a weekend away featuring some relaxed riding on untouched West Coast beaches. The event is also heavily family-orientated which makes for a weekend that can be enjoyed by all.
“I am very stoked that ION have partnered up with the event,” commented Craig Kolesky, who conceptualized the event. “Having ION on board adds value to this unique event.”
