Grinduro, a global gravel phenomenon that blends racing with festival energy, celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025. This year, presented by Leatt, Grinduro will make its South African debut at Oewerzicht Farm in the heart of the Overberg region: a serene riverside retreat perfect for relaxation, tubing, and outdoor adventures. Here’s what riders can expect:

What is Grinduro?
At its core, Grinduro combines timed racing stages with untimed social riding. Riders tackle a challenging route featuring a mix of pavement, gravel roads, flowing singletrack, and demanding climbs. Between stages, the focus shifts from competition to camaraderie, with participants enjoying great food, live music, art, and a lively festival atmosphere.
The Ride
Grinduro South Africa takes place from 17–19 October 2025. The main event covers approximately 100 km, with four timed segments (5–10 minutes each) across climbs, descents, and technical gravel. For those seeking a shorter challenge, the Grindurito offers a 50 km route with two stages — a lighter introduction to the Grinduro experience.
Riders can choose from several options:
- The Full 3-Day Grinduro – A 22 km prologue on Friday, a 100 km ride, 1400 metres of climbing with four timed segments on Saturday, and a relaxed 22 km ride on Sunday.
- The Grindurito – The same prologue on Friday, a shorter 48 km ride with 650 metres of climbing, and two timed segments, on Saturday, and the Sunday social ride.
- One-Day Option – Join in on Saturday only, choosing either the full Grinduro distance or the Grindurito distance.
Route Profiles

Beyond the trails, the Grinduro Village serves as the hub of the weekend. Expect a vibrant mix of local food, craft drinks, art displays, a bike expo, live music, and Saturday night’s headline party. Supporters and non-riders are welcome, with access to entertainment, chill zones, and prime spectator points.
