From www.letour.fr:

Impey the overall leader: the new top five of the 100th Tour…

History has been made: Daryl Impey moves from second overall to first. He finished the stage in 13th place while his team-mate and former race leader Simon Gerrans was 48th. This means that the South African has taken the yellow jersey and he is the first from his country to lead the Tour de France.

The new top five is:

1. Daryl Impey (RSA) OGE

2. Edvald Boasson Hagen (NOR) SKY – at 3″

3. Simon Gerrans (AUS) OGE – at 5″

4. Michael Albasini (SUI) OGE – at 5″

5. Michal Kwiatkowski (POL) OPQ – at 6″

Great to see SA producing some of the best on the world stage. MTN Quebeca having a great season, Daryl with two yellow jerseys thus far, and may we never forget the amazing Burry.

Proudly South African

Thanks Daryl!!!

I would love to see Daryl unzip his orica shirt to reveal an "irideforburry" shirt... now that, would make me shed a tear...

And Greg Minnaar has been one of the top DH riders (and World Champ a couple of times) for more than a decade.

Well done to Daryl Impey. Hopefully when he loses the yellow tomorrow, Froomedog picks it up.

Did you expect him to keep it into the mountains and maybe all the way to Paris?

I feel your pain, and would have loved to have seen the same, but this sport is ruthless.

Being in yellow is a bit like winning an F1GP. It is a very big deal.

Being in yellow in Paris is like being crowned F1 champion. Not a perfect analogy but it was the best I could come up with today when a client commented that Daryl clearly wasn't good enough. Made me very annoyed actually.

Annoying when people havent got a clue but feel they can criticise like that. DI isnt there as a GC contender; but his team took their chances after winning the TTT - great story. I believe his main role in the team is as support for the sprint stages.

Same with Richie Porte who got Chris Froome into yellow and himself into 2nd, before plummeting down the GC the following day. He'll be back to support on future stages.

Looks like its difficult for riders to dominate on consecutive stages, now that the doping is more subdued.

They say ignorance is bliss, but for my money ignorance is just stoopid ignorance!
