Take the Hollard Jozi Urban Mountain Bike Adventure to the next level in 2015? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

We are excited to announce that the second Hollard Jozi Urban Mountain Bike Adventure, taking place on the 6h September 2015 in Johannesburg, is now open for entries. Partnering with City Parks and Joburg Zoo, the Hollard JUMA is back and better than ever!

Taking into account all of the feedback received in respect of the 2014 event, the Hollard JUMA team has put major changes into action for 2015. This year riders can look forward to a tougher 54km, with fewer bottlenecks, less congestion (and more water stops!). The batches will now be SAS seeded with 10min between batches. The 54km route will run along the same route as last year but riders can expect a number of improvements (think rubberized ramps), fewer road crossings and fresh new challenges! Most importantly, the 54km & 22km routes will be different this year.

For first time riders, teens and more laid back riders the 22km will be completely separate and way less technical. Don’t be fooled though – while the 22km will definitely be more suited to first timers, it will still offer an excellent introduction to Johannesburg’s urban mountain biking potential.

If the challenge of conquering the mighty City of Johannesburg isn’t enough this year even more amazing prizes, to the total value of over R200 000, will be up for grabs!

The Hollard JUMA is a race for all kinds of riders, from professionals to weekend warriors & newbies and novices. Along with the Elite Categories there will be a variety of entry categories for those of a more creative inclination.

Jikes! That's expensive.

Didn't enjoy last year though. Bottlenecking was horrendous.

Hopefully the routes being split and less road crossing will help with that...

R399 is a bit steep.

Apart from the bottlenecks and lack of waterpoints i did enjoy last years ride though. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again this year.

Nee bliksem, R400 is too mutch. Thats basically just shy of a gorilla for a day out in Jozi for the wife and I.

I herewith volunteer babysitting duties for this year again.

I'm in. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that most problems of last year will be sorted.

Same here... 399 is just to much. The event is sponsored and we have to fork out that much?

Get real! A major event like 94.7 is cheaper

IM CLUELESS about costs involved

but a normal race is arounf 250-300, then you get water/powerade/ambualnce and a *** pack no one wants????

i did not do Juma, but from what i am told there was huge work/construction/ramps thats not free, so take a normal race add hiring/buying of all equipment maybe its not so rough??

No way that is a ridiculous price, esp for a race  that had such bad reviews last year. Anyway I don't get out of bed for 54kms (well, not in mid-winter)

Me to no idea what a race would cost to host PROPERLY, and they do you additional costs inc construction of bridges. But would be interested to know what are the number of participants they had last year or expect this year compared to another well supported event like the Nissan trail series.

Entry fee x participants =?

After my pathetic seeding last year , bottlenecks and lack of water even at the end point I will not enter this event never mind the cost.
