Mountain bikers and their loyal supporters are gearing up for the second round of the 2013 Ultimate Sports Nutrition (USN) Mountain Bike Cup Series, which kicks off at The Big Red Barn in Midrand, Gauteng, on Saturday, 16 February.
The Big Red Barn route, which is situated next to a 20 acre Eucalyptus forest, is renowned for its wide range of breath taking tracks that cater for riders of all levels, from those seeking casual rides through to adrenaline junkies wanting a challenge.
Dylan Victor, race MC and organiser comments, “Every race offers a fresh challenge to the competitors and we are very excited about this particular route. The challenging and fun tracks provide excitement to riders of all levels and USN MTB Cup Series always lives up to expectations.”
“Cyclists have three different race options – 10km, 30km and 50km – and there is also a kiddies race for the young and aspiring cyclists,” says Victor.
Round 1 of the 2013 USN Mountain Bike Cup Series, which took place in January, was well attended and the second race is expected to be just as popular with 1200 entries already submitted.
Rowan Grobler, the winner of the 2012 USN MTB Cup Series, is also participating in this year’s series again, “The USN Mountain Bike Cup Series is a fantastic way to experience some of South Africa’s great cycle routes and I am thoroughly looking forward to hitting all of the tracks again this year.”
