Gauteng gearing up for record Spur schools MTB season

With more than 400 pre-entries for the third race in the Gauteng leg of the Spur High Schools MTB League in the bag, organisers are expecting yet another record turn-out at Bekker School in Magaliesburg this weekend. Defending national champions Gauteng will be able to capitalise on their home base advantage with the national finals also taking place at Bekker School in October.

Presented by Anatomic, the first two events drew a record crowd of more than 1200 riders representing 50 Gauteng schools. Menlopark High School is top of the log with 660 points, followed by Zwartkop High in second with 414 points. Midstream College has moved up to third position with 374 points with Garsfontein High School still lying in fourth place and Waterkloof High School moving down to 5th spot with 361 points.

Registration for the event on Saturday, 15 August opens at 07h00 at Bekker School with the course open for training at 07h30. Entry fee is R95 and R130 for late entries. Online entries can be done on highschoolmtb.co.za.

Sub-junior boys starts at 09h00, Youth-15 boys starts at 10h00, Youth-16 boys starts at 11h00 with the juniors wrapping up the day at 12h00. The girls races will start five minutes after the boys in the respective categories. Prizegiving will be at 13h30.
