Cycling SA members must log into the CSAMS member management system and click the web link. They will be directed to the Europcar portal where they can complete their booking for any car that they wish to hire.

Europcar South Africa has been a consistent sponsor and partner to Cycling South Africa over the past few years, supporting various major cycling events that have been staged around the country by supplying team and support vehicles.

They’ve had a strong presence at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup events, African Continental Track and Road Championships, the PMB MTB Festival, as well as our National Road Championship events and the KZN Autumn Series road cycling races.

Their continued commitment to cycling events will be seen at the 2015 UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup, which will also benefit from the vehicle support offered by Europcar. The prestigious World Cup event takes place in Pietermaritzburg from 11-13 September.

“As a company, we’ve chosen to support cycling as a sport both in SA and internationally because we see how it reaches out to individuals who are driven by their passion to achieve,” says George Corbett, Europcar’s Divisional Executive Shared Services. “We recognise too, that our staff are all individuals with a passion for our business and for customer service, contributing to Europcar succeeding in achieving its corporate goals.”

Cycling is about training, motivation and attention to detail, believes Corbett.

“These values resonate with us as an SA-owned, international franchise that keeps as close as possible to our customers, to be attentive and responsive to their travel needs and innovate to create the best service solutions,” he says. “Inspiration drives the best of corporate endeavour, just as it does competitive cycling.”

“Europcar has been a vital partner and sponsor at all our major events over the past few years,” said Cycling SA General Manager, Mike Bradley. “We’ve finalised an agreement and it is fantastic to extend the benefit to our members to offer them lower rates and better deals, cementing Cycling SA’s ideals to provide our members with great value-for-money.”

PPA good corporate governance?

They have just appointed a member of the EXCO to be the CEO with out resinging from the EXCO before applying for the job!!! To top it all it was a secret ballot off the remaining committee member off which about 6 are part of his MTB club, who voted on the final 3 candidates without even seeing the CV of these candidates! I don’t even know if this new CEO qualified to get past round one of the interviews i.e. 3 year of tertiary education was in  the ad for the job! Two PPA - EXCO member I have spoken too could not confirm this for me.

PPA has hit rock bottom on  corporate governance!! All this was only brought to my attention last Friday by means of a letter been put by hand in my letter box and since speaking to some PPA committee members who are in in “shock” as to how PPA has been “taken over” by a club!

I am not say new CEO is or is not the correct man for the job - I don’t even know him and did not know his name until after receiving the letter in the post - but corporate governance was thrown out the window!

If what you say is remotely true I suggest that you take it up with the PPA at their next AGM. All this cloak and dagger and "he-said-she-said" stuff does not interest me and by trying to discredit the PPA process I am not going to like the CSA systematic mismanagement of funds any more. I will send you my email address as requested per private message on the condition that I can send the letter you received onto the PPA for comment.

All positive moves, but not nearly enough. The acid test will be when we send the next batch of young hopefuls to the Olympics. Lets see how many administrators vs athletes will be going to Rio next year.

dont get confused between CSA and SASCOC. CSA may submit a list of riders for the Olympics but I think you will find that it is SASCOC who choose who eventually goes to the Olympics and who doesn't.

Sure, but CSA can object if riders deserving of a place in the squad are omitted. They also make the decision on costs covered for athletes going to worlds etc. I'd rather see athletes getting financial assistance to attend these events than see administrators flying business class and staying in 5 star accommodation when they travel.

This is a highly political environment so we should probably leave it at that.

Agree 100% on the below.

Agree 100% on how CSA money is spent.
