By Press Office · 525 comments

The annual Bike Hub Tour de France Fantasy Tour is back for 2018. This year Bike Hub is offering a Wahoo KICKR indoor smart trainer for the Fantasy Tour overall winner. We have also introduced a pools feature allowing you and your friends to face off in your own leagues.

Weekly Prizes

To keep you on track each week we’ll be giving away a Knog lights hamper to two lucky contenders. Check out the prizes page for all the details.

How it works

The Fantasy Tour is all about picking your very own Tour de France dream team. You can choose any riders from any team to make up the ultimate virtual team.

  • Pick your squad of 12 riders: 8 active riders and 4 substitutes.
  • Team submissions close once the Tour begins: at 11h10 SAST on Saturday, 7 July 2018.
  • Substitutes: On the two rest days during the race you’ll have the opportunity to substitute riders. You can drop the non-performers or bring in some fresh legs.
  • Once substituted, riders can be used again, however points are only allocated while a rider is active…. if they’re on the bench you don’t score points.

Pools

This year we have included a new a feature, public and private pools. Now you can square up against your friends, families, and colleagues. Get started by creating your own pools here.

All the points look good to me - I see stage and overall points on my dashboard...

I enjoyed that but not sure I'll do it again - I like cheering for the guys I like and the Fantasy Tour requires you to choose guys that are likely to win not necessarily like. Most stages I was all goooo noooo not you ok you but I'd prefer him to win but you're ok but nah but sheeeeet.

Edit: I take that all back - see post below :-)

We are still busy finalising the points and verifying the results. Overall points are not yet reflecting.

Awesome...shot up with another 6 places   had a few lazy buggers in my team and 2 Sprinting non finishers  :cursing:  AND...ANOTHER year without even winning a Toilet roll...not even in the weekly prizes...nothing  :whistling:  LOL...how about a 3 day stage race complimentary entry??   :whistling:  Does not have to be a team entry... :whistling:  :whistling:  :whistling:

Jokes aside...well done to the winners...and thanx again for the Competition...will be waiting for TDF 2019

do you want the good news or the bad news?

the good news - you didn't come second

the bad news - you didn't come first either

Good news: you won a prize

Bad news: you have to fetch it in person

I think we might need to do a superbru or something rather, unless Admin has more prizes up his sleeve.

Hope you have forgiven me for saying you wouldn't make the top20, if it's any consolation it's about the only thing I predicted correctly this tour.

A few years back we did the Giro or Vuelta (can't remember which) just for fun and bragging rights, no prizes.... was just as much fun!!

Maybe Admin can do the same again.....

9th... Which if memory serves is exactly where I finished in 2017. Last year I didn't pick Barguil and this year GVA was my undoing. Just close enough to give me hope and ensure I curse the poor riders I didn't select.

No prizes for consistency?

Anyone with time on their hands trying to figure out what the best possible selections for the three phases were ?

That was fun, my team disappointed,  Some of them will be looking for contracts if I have the last say.

Went in with a GC heavy team.

Came in 34th not to bad.

Thanks for making the tour even more fun.

I can remember that...maybe ADMIN can make a plan for us to play the other races?

Just for bragging rights?

simple:

1st week sprinters + GVA

2nd week jersey holders + Alaphilipe

3rd week jersey holders + GC guys.

and obviously Sags every time.

thanks to Amdin+Nick + the sponsors.

That was fun. I will adjust my strategy for next year, it involves a DeLorean and a flux capacitor.

I think where it got hard was that the jersey leaders didn't change from day 11 to the finish, it looks like everyone in the top20 had Gee in their squad, well done to y'all!

A few things *preventing me from running the Giro and Vuelta comps like before:

1. Lack of time;

2. Capturing everyone’s team: for 20-odd participants it’s okay, but still requires time especially with the continual mind changes [humour required for the last part of the sentence [emoji16]]. For 100 or more, it is (feels) exponentially more. This is why it moved from having to send a PM/email to an automated, online capturing system;

3. Scoring: the spreadsheet is available, but requires quite a bit of maintenance, especially when the scoring changes from Giro to Tour to Vuelta, or when the ways to score Fantasy points gets too complicated. Also, the source of data (classifications) differs for each event... some clever scripts can fetch data, but that’s slightly outside my field of expertise if not in a table format.
