How it works

The Fantasy Tour is all about picking your very own Tour de France dream team. You can choose any riders from any team to make up the ultimate virtual team.

  • Pick your squad of 12 riders: 8 active riders and 4 substitutes.
  • Team submissions close once the Tour begins: at 11h10 SAST on Saturday, 7 July 2018.
  • Substitutes: On the two rest days during the race you’ll have the opportunity to substitute riders. You can drop the non-performers or bring in some fresh legs.
  • Once substituted, riders can be used again, however points are only allocated while a rider is active…. if they’re on the bench you don’t score points.

Pools

This year we have included a new a feature, public and private pools. Now you can square up against your friends, families, and colleagues. Get started by creating your own pools here.

No way GVA getting over that stage profile in the lead GC group.

well one can live in hope.

uh mean in 2016 Stage 7, he was in the yellow jersey with a 5 min lead on the GC contenders when this came along

tour-de-france-2016-stage-7-profile.jpg

Steve cummings won from the break, GVA took 40 seconds off the GC crowd

until the next day and then this

tour-de-france-2016-stage-8-profile.jpg

left him 25 mins down (with nibbles)

Only 1 sprint stage in week 2. I can only go down from here

that’s not a Sprint stage it’s a winning long range breakaway stage

I agonised over Bernal for some time... He is unlikely to score many top 10 places in the service of FroomeThomas and is 14mins behind Letour for the white jersey.... He made the squad - don't let me down little guy! Don't make me regret dropping Gaviria for the single sprint stage.

I asked on the formal Le Tour thread - but want to ask here. Any links to live streaming ?

i've been struggling to find one too .. IP. Blockers , VPN  and all not helping ... will going the KODI route work?

Sorry if this is hijacking the thread ( I dont have DSTV)

My pics not looking good for the mountains either now that Richie has abandoned...

Hopes with Majka, Dumoulin and maybe either EvBH or Impey for a surprise

Bernal is a banker.

he's actually only 8 and a bit mins down on Latour

the white jersey is probably one of the easier ones to get the points on.

73 people gone for Latour

182 gone for Bernal

even the 2 okes who had Anderson have dropped him this week

I had GVA/Gaviria to agonise over. went with Gaviria, basically as insurance if sags goes off a mountain or something

interesting that people DROPPED sagz from their squad for this week? went from 988 to 697!

the oke is in green and unlikely to lose it. 15 points a day is equivalent to 7th on every stage.

and last week was the flat week, this week is uphill. so you expect people to bring in their climbers.

BUT froome went slightly down from 794 to 699 picks. I'm trying to understand the thought process behind this. people pick him for the sprint stages, and then demote him for not performing?

It's very hard to see what's going to happen, but I think the one thing that is sure is that the current Leader Grootlem is not even going to be in the final top20. His okes are mostly going to put on turboreverse in the hills, and points from De Gendt and Alaphillipe are a serious gamble.

my thinking. 12 okes in the squad.

6 flat stage okes  (GVA = flat)

6 mountains. (Valverde = mountains)

week 1

6 flats + 2 mountains

week2

2 flats + 6 mountains

week3.

it depends.

now that I've lost richie and mathews I'm down to 10 riders.

I think the best mix is actually not 6:6 but 5:7 or even 4:8

I think the ultimate winner will come from someone who has at least 6 GC riders on their books for weeks 2 and 3 - and that doesn't appear to be anyone in the current top 10. the other leftfield possibility is the aggressive rider or polka going to an outsider which few people have picked. (if it goes to Barguil - 144 people got this base covered)

Damn. I didn't maths that one very well :-) 8 mins is doable I reckon.

I reckon Bernal may crack a top 10 on some of the mountain top finishes. Any points over white jersey points are a winner I reckon.

Edit: I went with 5 sprinters, 5 gc/climbers and 2 emotional random riders I thought would make some points.

On the emotion side - I'm not sure I'll play again next year. It gets a bit weird shouting for people you don't like that you think will score you points! I'm not sure that playing for points has made the TdF experience better or worse :-)

I went GC heavy this week, Sagan the only non-GC rider, lets see if I can make up some places this week. Hoping that the "Flat" stage is taken by n big breakaway move of unknown riders.

Did you make any substitutions?

If not your Phase 1 team will be pulled across automatically.

that's a decent team, but you can't cover all the GC bases. Yates, Uran, Nibbles could pull and it's tough luck
