All New Dropper Post Lever from cSixx

By Bike Hub Features · 31 comments

When you are slapping the saddle down almost as often as changing gears, you want to ensure that you have a sharp actuation with no hesitation or doubt in your mind that it won’t lower out of the way.

The folks down at cSixx have tried and tested almost all the levers on the market, integrating what they liked into theirs and found solutions to issues that they had with others.

Their main areas of focus were primarily the lever feel and secondly ease of use/fitment.

Cable Routing:
Intuitive cable routing for ease if installation.

Responsive Feel:
Designed to eliminate cable slack and ensure direct actuation

Material & Hardware:
CNC machined aluminium construction with an oversized pivot bearing adds a combination of rigidity and a smooth feel to your ride.

Barrel Adjuster:
Fine-tune to achieve your desired actuation point.

Construction:
A CNC machined Body and Lever are attached together with a MAX Bearing and XL Chainring bolt. They have added an Extra Long adjustment screw to take up any slack, even if installed badly at the bottom of the post. This allows you to fine-tune the bite point and keep it there with the double locking mechanism. There is a cable guide that allows for super easy installation and hides the end neatly, out of sight behind the lever.

Mounting Options:
Can be mounted to SRAM Matchmaker or our optional bar clamp.

They designed the body to be SRAM Matchmaker compatible as it is the most versatile standard. Additionally, they have made a bar clamp for riders not running SRAM brakes. These 2 mounting options should allow anyone to fit their lever to their bars. cSixx will be making adapters later down the line for all types of other brakes on the market like Shimano, Magura, Hope, and others. These will get made in priority of the number of requests they get – so drop them a message.

All will be cross-compatible and the only item you will need to purchase is a small adapter.

  • SRAM Matchmaker: Retail – R 999
  • Clamp: Retail – R 1,125

Check out the product here on the cSixx website.

Slapped one on my ebike and I must say the thumb size feels great (if thats a thing ) and operates smoother than the Fox I had on. Installation was dead easy with the screw-in bolt at the button.  Looks great.  They could have made the thumb bit with groves to add grip , if I had to be really picky.

Personally I won't go for rough textured dropper lever again. In summer the rougher surfaces starts to break skin and if wearing full finger gloves, wears the thumb pad of the glove out. A smooth surface is ok and if the level action is light and smooth it will work for everyone = win win.

Some levers have golf ball dimples for more aero actuation .... and the cost reflects this

So thought ill come ‘drop’ (punny right?) my experience with this lever since ive had most of the ones mentioned here so far. I have a Lyne dropper, a Bikeyoke Revive 160mm one and more recently…a OneUp 210mm one because i want to need more drop.

I have the Lyne v2 lever. It works fine for what it costs. No complaints. I have the Bikeyoke Triggy too. Also a super nice lever with plenty of adjustment, the Bikeyoke dropper is the smoothest thing out there imo and the lever compliments that. it is also stupid expensive so you would hope it was.

I got one of these CSIXX ones for the OneUp after reading the droppers are notoriously stiff and notchy compared to something premium like a Revive. A lot of people apparently pair it with the light action Wolftooth lever which just has a longer lever arm vs the normal one.
My TriggyX has an adustable lever arm. You can make it 6mm longer or shorter to achieve the easy action wolftooth sells at a premium. Well while I was waiting for CSIXX to wake from their holiday slumber…I used the triggy on the Oneup 210mm in the interim and I immediately felt how much stiffer it felt vs the Revive…It works, but again…once you’ve felt a Revive, few things will compare. So a bit of buyers remorse settled in, but I cant gooi R10k on a 213mm Revive for an extra ~60mm drop…and it wont fit in my frame due to droplink position on the seat tube. Also why I had to settle for the 210mm even though I could use the 240mm OneUp if it fit. My legs go to the moon see.

anyway, back to the CSIXX lever.

they obviously arent lying about testing almost all of them on  the market because it is one of the nicest feeling actions of the all the ones i’ve felt.Super smooth and light action. It makes the OneUp dropper actuate and feel so much smoother that it probably actually is. I havent tried it on my Revive obviously but can imagine that combo will be like trying to hold onto a wet Carp with your bare hands after dipping them in oil…slippery AF.

And obviously it looks and feels super premium. Awesome product!

100% recommended.
